𝗡𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡𝗔𝗟 𝗩𝗢𝗧𝗘𝗥𝗦’ 𝗗𝗔𝗬, 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲

Every year, 15th September is observed as International Day of Democracy (IDD) around the world. This day is established in 2007 through passing consensus resolution by the United Nations General Assembly. This event is celebrated to promote and uphold democratic principles, and good governance.

Coinciding with IDD, Bhutan observes the day as National Voters’ Day (NVD) since 2014. This year, to mark the event, Monggar Dzongkhag celebrated NVD in collaboration with Monggar Higher Secondary School on the national theme “Reimagining Democracy; Celebrating Partnership, Inspiring Participation”.

The celebration was graced by Dasho Dzongdag as the Chief Guest, and read out NVD message from Hon’ble Chief Election Commissioner, Election Commission of Bhutan. One of the important program of the day include inspirational story from first-time voter and excitement to participate in Bhutanese democracy by to be a first-time voter. To engage and learn about Bhutanese democracy and election, a quiz competition was organized.

The day’s celebration ended with “National Voters’ Pledge” echoing to exercise franchise in every election, freely, without fear, favour, or inducement, to elect the most capable representative to serve the Tsawa-Sum.

The public is reminded to strictly refrain from disposing of Vishwakarma Puja statues and ritual items in rivers, streams, drains, open spaces, or the surrounding environment. All ritual waste should be properly segregated and disposed of through designated waste collection services, with biodegradable items composted where possible.

𝗙𝗜𝗡𝗔𝗟 𝗢𝗙 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗭𝗛𝗢𝗡𝗚𝗔𝗥 𝗠𝗢𝗡𝗦𝗢𝗢𝗡 𝗗𝗘𝗣𝗔𝗥𝗧𝗠𝗘𝗡𝗧𝗔𝗟 𝗙𝗢𝗢𝗧𝗕𝗔𝗟𝗟 𝗧𝗢𝗨𝗥𝗡𝗔𝗠𝗘𝗡𝗧 – 𝗦𝗘𝗔𝗦𝗢𝗡 𝗜𝗜

The Final of the Zhongar Monsoon Departmental Football Tournament – Season II was held at the Mongar Public Ground on 12 September 2026, drawing hundreds of enthusiastic spectators from across Mongar and neighboring communities.

The grand finale was graced by the presence of Dasho Dzongdag as the Guest of Honour, Dasho Dzongrab, MS ERRH, along with other esteemed guests and dignitaries. A total of 21 teams representing various departments and agencies under Mongar Dzongkhag participated in this year’s tournament, which commenced on 25 July 2026 and continued for almost six weeks. To provide equal opportunities for football enthusiasts across the community to witness the matches, the tournament was conducted at two venues: Gyalpoizhing Astro Turf and Mongar Public Ground. This approach not only expanded community participation but also helped bring the excitement of the tournament closer to different sections of the community.

The tournament was organized with the objectives of commemorating the enduring legacy of our great forefathers, fostering camaraderie and friendship among participants, promoting healthy lifestyles and raising awareness on non-communicable diseases (NCDs), strengthening community spirit, and contributing to the stimulation of the local economy.

The much-anticipated championship match featured Business FT against Gyalsung Infra Academy FT. Business FT took an early lead in the first half by scoring a goal, while Gyalsung Infra Academy FT fought hard to level the score but were unable to find the equalizer. Business FT returned strongly in the second half, displaying impressive attacking football and adding four more goals before the final whistle. The match concluded with a convincing 5–0 victory in favor of Business FT, securing their place as the Champions of the Zhongar Monsoon Departmental Football Tournament – Season II.

Adding further vibrancy to the grand occasion, students of Mongar Higher Secondary School (MHSS) showcased their talent through an exceptional modern dance performance during the opening and half-time break. Their energetic performance added colour and entertainment to the event and was warmly appreciated by the spectators.
On behalf of the Mongar Sports Association, heartfelt appreciation and gratitude are extended to all participating teams for their remarkable physical and mental commitment, sportsmanship, and dedication throughout the tournament. Equal appreciation goes to the match officials, volunteers, supporters, and all those who worked tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure the smooth and successful conduct of the tournament.
With the growing enthusiasm and interest from departments, teams, and the wider community, the Zhongar Monsoon Departmental Football Tournament is envisioned as an annual sporting event, with expectations of even greater participation and engagement in the coming seasons. The successful conclusion of Season II marks another significant milestone in promoting sports, healthy living, friendship, and community togetherness in Mongar.

The Dzongkhag Administration, Mongar, welcomed Hon’ble Dasho Naiten Wangchuk, Member of Parliament for Mongar Constituency, for an interaction with the relevant sector and regional heads.
At the outset, Dasho Dzongdag briefly highlighted the budget allocation for Mongar Dzongkhag for FY 2026–2027, including the budget endorsed by the Dzongkhag Tshogdu (DT), and provided an overview of key projects and funded activities for the Dzongkhag.

Hon’ble Dasho Naiten Wangchuk presented an overview of the Fifth Session of the Fourth Parliament, including key legislative and national matters discussed during the session.
The major Government Bills highlighted included:
Budget Appropriation Bill for FY 2026–2027;
Supplementary Budget Appropriation Bill for FY 2025–2026;
Renewable Energy Tax Exemption Bill of Bhutan;
Amendment of the Goods and Services Tax Bill of Bhutan; and
Mutual Legal Assistance in Criminal Matters Bill & others.

The Hon’ble Member of Parliament also highlighted the status of action taken on issues raised during previous parliamentary sessions.

(Thimphu, 9 September 2026): The Department of Tourism, Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Employment, Bhutan, in collaboration with the PemaGatshel Dzongkhag Administration, is pleased to share that the second edition of Bathing Carnival Bhutan (BCB) will be held from 6-8 November 2026 at Telung, Nganglam, PemaGatshel. This year, the Bathing Carnival Bhutan will be held on these dates taking into consideration the 108 Project in Gelephu Mindfulness City (GMC) and recognising the significance of this important Royal initiative. From 2027 onwards, the Bathing Carnival Bhutan will be held annually from 1–3 November at Telung, Pemagatshel. This three-day festival in the eastern district aims to offer a fresh and engaging experience for visitors seeking a unique water-based, cultural, and adventure-filled getaway.

The Bathing Carnival Bhutan (BCB), themed “Celebrating the Joy of Water,” is inspired by the cherished Bhutanese tradition of Thruebab, or Blessed Rainy Day, and the ancient practice of bathing in naturally occurring, blessed water. Water, representing life, memory, renewal, and joy, holds a special place in Bhutanese culture, where bathing in blessed waters has traditionally been associated with purification, renewal, well-being, and shared celebration. The first edition of the Bathing Carnival was celebrated alongside Thruebab, drawing inspiration directly from this deeply rooted cultural tradition.

Building on the spirit and significance of Thruebab, this year’s Bathing Carnival will be celebrated following the occasion, allowing participants and visitors to carry forward the experience of being blessed by the sacred waters and the cultural essence of this special time of year. The event reimagines this cherished tradition through a vibrant blend of community, culture, sports, water-based activities, and entertainment, set against the beautiful landscapes of Telung.

The Bathing Carnival is a vibrant three-day celebration that brings together community, sports, entertainment, and local culture against the breathtaking landscapes of Telung. Designed as a contemporary festival for people of all ages, the event offers a unique blend of fun, outdoor experiences, and cultural discovery, while showcasing the natural beauty and warm community spirit of the region. With a dynamic programme of activities, the Carnival creates an exciting new reason to visit PemaGatshel, inviting visitors and locals alike to come together, enjoy the outdoors, experience local traditions, and create unforgettable memories. By combining recreation, entertainment, and cultural experiences, the Bathing Carnival presents a fresh and engaging way to discover this lesser-explored part of Bhutan.

The program is packed with a diverse range of water-based and other activities designed to appeal to all interests. Highlights include a tug of water war, mass bathing, water fighting, bucket relay race with water, laser light show, fly fishing masher hunt and bamboo mat dining. Guests can also participate in a game of skills including balloon shooting, ring throwing, water balloon throwball competition and many more exciting activities.

Beyond the aquatic and recreational events, the carnival provides a rich cultural immersion. Visitors can explore local markets and see demonstrations of traditional crafts, including Tsatshi Buram (local sugar candy) and Dung and Jaling (traditional musical instruments). The festival also features a Valley Fruit Feast and a final group dance that captures the spirit of the celebration.

The Mongar Dzongkhag Administration celebrated the outstanding academic achievements of students from across the Dzongkhag through the presentation of His Majesty the King’s Academic Toppers Certificates at Mongar Higher Secondary School.

The ceremony recognised toppers from Mongar Higher Secondary School, Mongar Middle Secondary School, Lingmethang Middle Secondary School, Gyalpozhing Middle Secondary School, and Kidheykhar Central School.

As part of the ceremony, Dasho Dzongdag presented the Academic Toppers Certificates, along with Royal Portraits, to each recipient in recognition of their dedication, perseverance, and commitment to academic excellence. The gesture also acknowledged the unwavering support and encouragement provided by their teachers and families.

Addressing the students, teachers, and parents, Dasho Dzongdag shared words of encouragement and wisdom, urging the young achievers to look beyond their present accomplishments and envision where they aspire to be 15 years from now.

The ceremony was a celebration of academic excellence and a reminder of the important role Bhutan’s youth will play in shaping the nation’s future. It inspired the young achievers and students present to dream boldly, prepare diligently, and pursue their aspirations with purpose and determination.

Mongar Consumer Fair commenced on 2nd September and will continue until 6th September 2026, bringing together a vibrant marketplace of products, businesses, and opportunities. The opening ceremony was graced by the Ven. Lam Neten, Hon’ble Dasho Dzongdag along with few sector heads and regional heads.

A total of 47 𝑰𝒏𝒅𝒊𝒂𝒏 𝒗𝒆𝒏𝒅𝒐𝒓𝒔 𝒂𝒏𝒅 23 𝑩𝒉𝒖𝒕𝒂𝒏𝒆𝒔𝒆 𝒗𝒆𝒏𝒅𝒐𝒓𝒔 are participating in the five-day fair, displaying and selling a diverse range of products for visitors and consumers.
The fair witnessed an encouraging number of visitors on its very first day, with an even greater turnout anticipated in the coming days.

Beyond providing consumers with a variety of products and shopping opportunities, the primary objective of the fair is to create valuable 𝑩𝒖𝒔𝒊𝒏𝒆𝒔𝒔-𝒕𝒐-𝑩𝒖𝒔𝒊𝒏𝒆𝒔𝒔 (𝑩2𝑩) 𝒍𝒊𝒏𝒌𝒂𝒈𝒆𝒔 between Indian and Bhutanese vendors, while promoting trade, entrepreneurship, and the local economy.
