Yesterday, the 𝐀𝐠𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐡 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐃𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐩𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐂𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐞 (𝐀𝐑𝐃𝐂), 𝐖𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐤𝐡𝐚𝐫 had the honour of welcoming the Honourable Chairperson, Honourable Deputy Chairperson, and Members of the 𝐏𝐮𝐛𝐥𝐢𝐜 𝐀𝐜𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐬 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐢𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐞 (𝐏𝐀𝐂) to the Centre.

The purpose of the visit was to discuss the findings of the 𝐏𝐞𝐫𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐀𝐮𝐝𝐢𝐭 𝐑𝐞𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭 of the 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐞𝐫𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐀𝐠𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐋𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐝𝐬 𝐄𝐧𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐦𝐦𝐞 (𝐂𝐀𝐑𝐋𝐄𝐏). The consultation meeting was attended by representatives from 𝐎𝐏𝐌-𝐂𝐀𝐑𝐋𝐄𝐏, 𝐎𝐏𝐌-𝐆𝐄𝐅𝟖, 𝐑𝐀𝐌𝐂𝐎, 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐃𝐳𝐨𝐧𝐠𝐤𝐡𝐚𝐠 𝐀𝐠𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐋𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐜𝐤 𝐒𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐨𝐫, 𝐀𝐑𝐃𝐂-𝐖𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐤𝐡𝐚𝐫, and the 𝐆𝐞𝐰𝐨𝐠 𝐀𝐝𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬.

During the session, 𝐀𝐑𝐃𝐂-𝐖𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐤𝐡𝐚𝐫 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐎𝐏𝐌-𝐂𝐀𝐑𝐋𝐄𝐏 presented the key achievements, impacts, and lessons learned from the ten years of CARLEP implementation. The team also responded to queries raised by the Honourable Members of the Committee and provided additional information to support the discussions.

We are deeply honoured by the Committee’s visit and their valuable engagement. Such consultations strengthen transparency, accountability, and collaboration in public service delivery. We look forward to continued guidance and future opportunities to engage with the Honourable Members.

The 108 stupas stand as a profound symbol of compassion, wisdom, and spiritual merit, reflecting His Majesty's selfless vision for the well-being of all sentient beings. More than a sacred monument, it serves as a lasting reminder of the importance of harmony, unity, and the timeless values that strengthen our nation.

May this sacred initiative inspire us to cultivate kindness, compassion, and gratitude in our daily lives, while contributing to the collective peace and happiness of our communities.

May the blessings of the 108 stupas bring peace and prosperity to Bhutan and to all sentient beings across the world.

Today, 15 July 2026, the ARDC-Wengkhar family organized a Tashi Khadar ceremony to honour two staff members on their well-deserved promotions conferred by the Royal Civil Service Commission (RCSC). The ceremony was graciously presided over by the Wengkhar Lam.

Dr. Tshering Penjor, Citrus and Precision Farming Specialist, was promoted from Executive Specialist III A (ES-III A) to Executive Specialist II A (ES-II A). Likewise, Mr. Chophel was promoted from Assistant Engineer III A (SS4 A) to Assistant Engineer II A (SS3 A).

The ARDC-Wengkhar family extends its heartfelt congratulations to both promotees on this well-earned achievement.

We wish them continued success and excellence in their professional endeavours as they take on greater responsibilities in serving the agriculture sector.

Today, 21 staff members from ARDC Wengkhar, 6 from ARDSC Lingmethang, and 3 from ARDSC Khangma (joining virtually) participated in a seminar on “Developing Crop Suitability Mapping Using QGIS.”

The session, delivered by Thinley Gyeltshen, DCAO, introduced participants to the practical use of QGIS for crop suitability mapping and highlighted how geospatial tools can support informed agricultural planning, research, and decision-making.

A sincere thanks to the resource person for sharing his knowledge and experience. Continuous learning and knowledge sharing like this help strengthen our capacity to promote smart and sustainable agriculture.

𝗔𝗱𝘃𝗶𝘀𝗼𝗿𝘆 𝗼𝗻 𝗕𝗿𝗼𝘄𝗻 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗵𝗼𝗽𝗽𝗲𝗿 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗪𝗵𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗯𝗮𝗰𝗸𝗲𝗱 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗵𝗼𝗽𝗽𝗲𝗿

The Regional Plant Protection Office, ARDC Wengkhar, would like to draw the attention of farmers, extension personnel, and all stakeholders involved in paddy cultivation to the advisory issued by the National Plant Protection Centre (NPPC) on the management of Brown Planthopper (BPH) and Whitebacked Planthopper (WBPH) in rice.

With the current monsoon conditions favouring the occurrence and rapid multiplication of these pests, early field surveillance, timely identification, and adoption of the recommended Integrated Pest Management (IPM) practices are essential to minimize crop damage and safeguard paddy production.

We encourage all concerned to carefully review the advisory and remain vigilant during the vulnerable crop stages. Farmers are also requested to report any suspected infestations to their nearest Gewog Agriculture Extension Centre for timely technical support.

Today, the ARDC family, together with the CARLEP and GEF-8 Project teams, participated in the age-old tradition of paddy cultivation at the Centre while maintaining all standard research protocols.

Beyond its agricultural significance, the event celebrated teamwork, cultural heritage, and community spirit. As always, the much-anticipated mud fight added excitement, laughter, and unforgettable memories, making it the highlight of the day.

A wonderful blend of tradition, research, and camaraderie -strengthening our connection to both the land and one another.

𝑬𝒔𝒕𝒂𝒃𝒍𝒊𝒔𝒉𝒎𝒆𝒏𝒕 𝒐𝒇 𝒀𝒖𝒔𝒊 𝑲𝒆𝒘𝒂 𝑵𝒈𝒂𝒓𝒎 1 𝑮𝒆𝒓𝒎𝒑𝒍𝒂𝒔𝒎 𝒂𝒕 𝑨𝑹𝑫𝑪 𝑾𝒆𝒏𝒈𝒌𝒉𝒂𝒓 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑨𝑹𝑫𝑺𝑪 𝑲𝒉𝒂𝒏𝒈𝒎𝒂

The germplasm of Yusi Kewa Ngarm 1, a promising sweet potato variety released by the National Centre for Organic Agriculture (NCOA), Yusipang, during the 27th Variety Release Committee (VRC) meeting, has been successfully established at ARDC Wengkhar and ARDSC Khangma. The germplasm will serve as an important genetic resource for conservation, evaluation, and future outreach activities in the eastern region. This initiative was made possible through the support of Mr. Lobzang, a potato expert from NCOA Yusipang, who generously shared the sweet potato slips with our centre. In addition to providing the planting materials, he conducted a practical demonstration on recommended planting techniques and shared valuable knowledge on sweet potato cultivation and crop management with the horticulture staff of ARDC Wengkhar and ARDSC Khangma.

We extend our sincere appreciation to NCOA Yusipang and Mr. Lobzang for their generous support, technical guidance, and commitment to strengthening sweet potato research and development in the eastern region.

“A thousand-mile journey begins with a single step.” In the same spirit, the past and present members of the Staff Welfare Scheme Fund (SWSF) of ARDC Wengkhar have contributed Nu. 108,000.00 towards the construction of the 108 Chortens in support of the Gelephu Mindfulness City initiative envisioned by His Majesty the King.

As a small drop in a vast ocean, we offer this contribution with sincere prayers for the successful realization of His Majesty’s vision and for the benefit of all sentient beings.

We extend our heartfelt appreciation to all past and present members of ARDC Wengkhar for their continued support, generosity, and commitment.

To commemorate the Coronation Day of His Majesty the Fourth Druk Gyalpo and observe Social Forestry Day, the staff of ARDC Wengkhar, together with personnel from its two sub-centres, actively participated in a plantation and environmental conservation program.

As part of the observance, staff members planted a variety of tree saplings within and around the Centre premises, reaffirming their commitment to environmental stewardship and sustainable natural resource management. The activity reflected the enduring vision of His Majesty the Fourth Druk Gyalpo, whose leadership laid the foundation for Bhutan’s strong environmental conservation policies and the philosophy of balanced development.

In addition to the plantation program, ARDC Wengkhar carried out maintenance and care of its existing avenue plantation established in previous years. Activities included cleaning, weeding, and nurturing the planted trees to ensure their healthy growth and long-term survival. This initiative highlights the Centre’s continued dedication not only to planting new trees but also to preserving and managing existing green assets.

The event served as a meaningful opportunity for staff to contribute towards a greener environment while honouring the remarkable legacy of His Majesty the Fourth Druk Gyalpo. Through such collective efforts, ARDC Wengkhar remains committed to promoting environmental sustainability and fostering a culture of conservation for future generations.
