Brief explanation of The Guru Drakpo Trodog, based on the mind treasure of Wrathful Guru Phurba revealed by Kyabje Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche
༧སྐྱབས་རྗེ་དིལ་མཁྱེན་རྡོ་རྗེ་འཆང་གི་ཟབ་གཏེར་བདུད་འདུལ་པདྨ་སྙིང་ཐིག་གི་ངོ་སྤྲོད་དང་། དེའི་སྒོ་ནས་གཏོར་ཟློག་འཚོགས་དགོས་པའི་དམིགས་ཡུལ་ནི།
གཏེར་གཞུང་ལས། དེ་ལྟར་བླ་མ་ཡི་དམ་ཌཱ་ཀིའི་ཚོགས༔ གཅིག་ཏུ་སྒྲུབ་པའི་ཕྲིན་ལས་རྨད་བྱུང་བ༔ དུས་མཐའི་འགྲོ་བ་སྐྱོབ་པའི་བཙས་སུ་བཞག༔ ཟབ་འདྲིལ་སྙིང་པོ་བཀའ་བཙན་བྱིན་རླབས་མྱུར༔ སྙིང་གི་ཐིག་ལེ་ཤིན་ཏུ་ཐུན་མིན་འདི༔ མངའ་བདག་ཆེན་པོའི་ཡེ་ཤེས་སྒྱུ་མའི་གཟུགས༔ དྲག་ཤུལ་མཐུ་སྟོབས་ནུས་པའི་རྩལ་འཆང་བ༔ པདྨའི་མིང་གིས་སྣང་བའི་རྟེན་འབྲེལ་གྱིས༔ ཐ་མའི་གདུལ་བྱ་བསྟན་འགྲོ་ཡོངས་ལ་ཕན༔ ཁྱད་པར་འཇམ་དཔལ་གྲུབ་པའི་སློབ་དཔོན་གྱིས༔ ཉམས་སུ་བླང་བས་བར་ཆད་ཀེག་ལས་གྲོལ༔ དམ་སྲི་འབྱུང་པོའི་ཚ་ངར་གཅོག་པ་ཡི༔ འཕྲད་ཆོག་གཉེན་པོར་འགྱུར་རོ་ཨ་ཐཾ་རྒྱ༔ ཞེས་གསུངས་པ་ལྟར། རིས་མེད་བསྟན་འགྲོའི་བཙུག་བརྒྱན་བཀའ་བབས་བདུན་ལྡན་འཇམ་དབྱངས་མཁྱེན་བརྩེ་དབང་པོ་ལ། བོད་སྐྱོང་བརྟན་མ་བཅུ་གཉིས་ཀྱི་ཡ་གྱལ་ཁ་རག་རྡོ་རྗེ་ཁྱུང་བཙུན་མས་དངོས་སུ་ཕུལ་བའི་གནམ་ལྕགས་ཀྱི་ཕུར་པ་ཞིག་ཡོད་པ་ལ། མཁྱེན་བརྩེ་དབང་པོའི་ཐུགས་སྤྲུལ་དིལ་མཁྱེན་རྡོ་རྗེ་འཆང་གིས་ཕུར་པ་འདི་ལ་མཁའ་འགྲོ་མའི་བརྡ་ཡིག་གཟིགས་པ་ལ་བརྟེན་ནས། ཟབ་གཏེར་གུ་རུ་དྲག་པོ་ཕུར་མཇུག་ཅན་གྱི་སྒྲུབ་ཐབས་དང་ལས་ཚོགས་བསམ་གྱིས་མི་ཁྱབ་པ་དགོངས་གཏེར་དུ་གཏན་ལ་ཕབ་པ་འདི་ཉིད་བྱིན་རླབས་ཀྱི་མཚན་ཁ་མ་ཉམས་པ་མཁའ་འགྲོའི་ཁ་རླངས་མ་ཡལ་བ་བདག་ཅག་རྗེས་འཇུག་རྣམས་ཀྱི་ཆོས་སྐལ་དུ་བཞུགས་པ་འདི་ལགས་སོ། །ཟབ་གཏེར་འདི་ནི་བརྒྱུད་ཐག་ཉེ་ཞིང་བྱིན་རླབས་ཆེ་ནའང་གཏེར་གཞུང་ཙམ་ལས། སྒྲུབ་ཐབས་ཕྲིན་སྒྲུབ་དབང་ཆོག་སོགས་བླ་མ་དམ་པའི་ཕྱག་བཞེས་ལྟར་ཁ་གསལ་དུ་མེད་པས་ཉམས་ལེན་དུ་སྟར་མ་ནུས་པས་ན། ཉེ་བའི་རིགས་བདག་ཆེན་མོ་སྐྱབས་རྗེ་རབ་འབྱམས་རིན་པོ་ཆེས་སྒྲུབ་ཐབས་དང་དབང་ཆོག་སྨད་ལས་དགྲ་བགེགས་བསྒྲལ་བའི་ལས་ཚོགས་སོགས་ཁ་གསལ་དུ་ཆོག་བསྒྲིགས་གནང་སྟེ། འདི་ག་ཞེ་ཆེན་ཐེག་མཆོག་ཆོས་ཀྱི་དགའ་ཚལ་དུ་གནས་སྐབས་སྙིགས་ལྔའི་རང་མདངས་ནད་མུག་དམག་འཁྲུག་མཚོན་གྱི་འཇིགས་པ་བར་ཆད་ཐམས་རྩད་ནས་ཞི་ཞིང་བསྟན་པ་མཆོག་ཏུ་དར་ཞིང་རྒྱས་པ་དང་། མཐར་ཐུག་ལུས་ཅན་ཀུན་བདེ་བའི་ས་ལ་དབུགས་དབྱུང་བའི་རྟེན་འབྲེལ་དུ་དགོངས་ནས་འཁོར་ལོའི་མགོན་པོ་གང་གིས་ལོ་ལྟར་འཚོགས་དགོས་པའི་བཀའ་སྤྱི་བོར་བདེ་ཆེན་འཁོར་ལོར་ཕེབས་པ་བཞིན་ད་ལོ་ཡང་མུ་འཐུས་ནས་དངོས་གཞི་དང་ཟོར་འཕང་བཅས་ལེགས་པར་འཚོག་གྲུབ་པའི་སྣང་བརྙན་ལགས་སོ། །
The purpose of performing the torma repelling ritual through the introduction to the profound treasure Düdul Pema Nyingtik (Lotus Heart Essence of Subjugating Māras) of Kyabje Dilgo Khyentse Dorje Chang is as follows:
As stated in the treasure text: "The practice combining guru, yidam, and ḍākinī assemblies in one, whose enlightened activities are amazing, is set forth as a refuge for beings in this degenerate age. The blessed power of this profound condensed essence instruction comes swiftly. This extraordinary heart essence, the illusory wisdom form of the great sovereign, possessing the wrathful power, strength, and skillful means—through the auspicious connection of appearing with the name Padma—will benefit all beings and the teachings of the final age. In particular, when practiced by the master Mañjuśrī, one will be freed from obstacles and hindrances. It will serve as an effective antidote that crushes the arrogance of oath-breakers, demons, and spirits. A thāṃ."
Just as this states, to Jamyang Khyentse Wangpo, the ornament of the non-sectarian teachings and beings who possessed the seven transmissions, Kharak Dorje Khyungtsün, the chief among the Twelve Tenma goddesses who protect Tibet, personally presented a meteorite iron phurba. Based on Dilgo Khyentse Dorje Chang, the mind emanation of Khyentse Wangpo, perceiving ḍākinī symbolic script on this phurba, he established as mind treasure this profound terma of inconceivable sādhanas and ritual activities of Guru Drakpo with Phurba. This very teaching, whose seal of blessings remains unbroken and whose breath of the ḍākinīs has not dissipated, abides as the dharmic destiny for us later followers.
Although this profound treasure has a close lineage and great blessings, since there was no clear expansion beyond just the treasure text itself—no explicit sādhana, activity practices, empowerment ritual, etc., according to the great master's own approach—it could not be put into practice.
Therefore, the close lineage holder, the great Kyabje Rabjam Rinpoche, composed clearly the sādhana, empowerment ritual, and the activity practices for suppressing hostile forces and obstructors from the lower activities section, among others.
With the intention that this would serve as an auspicious connection for temporarily pacifying all obstacles—the natural display of the five degenerations of this degenerate age, the terrors of disease, famine, warfare, and weapons—and causing the supreme teachings to flourish and ultimately for all sentient beings to rest in the land of bliss, and in accordance with the command of the Lord of the Dharma Wheel that this must be performed annually, which we hold on our crown as a blissful wheel.
