World Environment Day 4th June 2026.
The Dzongkhag Administration, Paro, in collaboration with the Department of Environment and Climate Change, Ministry of Natural Resources, celebrated World Environment Day 2026 at Tashi Namgay Resort. The event was observed coinciding with the auspicious occasion of the Birth Anniversary of Her Majesty The Gyaltsuen.
The event was graced by the Special Advisor to the National Environment Commission, Dasho Peljor J. Dorji; Dasho Secretary of the Ministry of Natural Resources, Rinpung Rabdey Lam Neten, Dasho Dzongdag, Members of the National Council, Dasho Drangpons, Dasho Superintendent of Police, Director of the Department of Environment and Climate Change, Officials from JICA and UNDP, Gups, Regional Managers, School Principals, Sector Heads, officials from the Department of Environment and Climate Change, and private waste entrepreneurs.
During the celebration, the Pilot Initiative for the Reduction of Single-Use Plastic Carry Bags through the Promotion of Eco-Friendly Alternatives was officially launched. The event also featured an exhibition showcasing eco-friendly alternatives to single-use plastic products, aimed at raising public awareness and promoting sustainable consumption practices. The initiative reflects the collective commitment of government agencies, development partners, the private sector, and local communities to reduce plastic pollution and foster a cleaner, greener environment.
