We'd like to share our 2026 team photo (also a solo of Chief Lenz) in front of the shiny new SPU trailer, with regrets to missing members, Ian B, Ian W, Lana, Bradie, Ray, Mat, and Karson.
Further congratulations to long time members Edith and Rob for completing all of the requirements to be Full Exterior Firefighters. These two work and live in our community and when not doing their jobs they're with DBF&R serving dual roles as Emergency Medical First Responders and Fire Fighters.
Lastly, don't forget the Bottle Drive on September 12th, please donate and come and help sort where you can meet some of our great local residents and volunteer crew!

Recently we practiced with neighboring departments north of us. The amazing members of F***y Bay/Union Bay and Ships Point. We trained on a realistic scenario so that we are familiar with each other's equipment, personnel, and systems. Here we practiced fighting an interface fire...a VERY REAL probability as we all know.
We work together in mutual aid, when crisis comes. we are stronger as one.

As we get into the hotter days of summer our team trains and drills to stay sharp. We have JUST acquired our new Structural Protection Unit (SPU) trailer that we will fill with easily deployable equipment to protect the structures (your homes) when wildfire threatens.
If you're interested in joining us, or simply curious about what we do, practices are Monday nights from 6:30 -9:00.

Bowser Legion Branch 211 is amazing! They do so much for the community giving back and contributing more than you know!

It's not unusual for our members to extricate badly injured people from crashes or to attend to those who are unconscious or suffering memory loss and confusion.
You can help us help you by following these simple steps on your mobile devices. This will allow first responders to contact your loved ones.

How to Set Up Emergency Contact (Medical ID). Here’s a step by step for Iphone and Android.

IPhone
-Open the Health App: Open the Apple Health App (pre-installed).
-Access Medical ID: Tap your profile picture in the top right, then tap Medical ID.
-Edit Information: Tap Edit (top right) to add details like conditions, allergies, and medications.
-Add Emergency Contacts: Scroll to "Emergency Contacts" and tap add emergency contact to select someone from your contacts list.
-Enable Lock Screen Access: Toggle Show When Locked to green. This is crucial for first responders.
-Enable Sharing: Toggle Share During Emergency Call to allow info to be sent to emergency services in the US/Canada.
-Tap Done

Android
-Open Settings: Go to Settings > Safety & Emergency (or search "Emergency" in settings).
-Add Medical Information: Tap Medical Info to add details like allergies, blood type, or medications.
-Add Contacts: Tap Emergency Contacts > Add Contact and select from your contact list.
-Enable Lock Screen Access: Ensure the toggle for Show when locked is turned on.

On behalf of the Fire Department and the Fire and Rescue Society, we want to express our sincerest gratitude for the incredible number of people who showed up to help with the Saturday bottle drive. Thanks too for the amazing volume of donations from curbside and drop-offs!
Having such a large turnout goes so far to boost our morale and shows what a special neighbourly bond we all share.
Happy to report that we had everything collected, sorted, counted and delivered by early afternoon.
