Congratulations to St. Joseph’s Lifecare Centre on receiving a 2026 Accessibility Improvement Award in the Employment category for their commitment to inclusive employment through Project SEARCH.

Community Living Brant is proud to be part of this partnership through our Employment Supports team. We want to acknowledge the students for their hard work, growth, and commitment as they build employment skills, confidence, and real-world experience.

A special congratulations to CLBs very own Esther Haan, who supports students through our Employment Program with Project SEARCH as they prepare for meaningful employment.

This recognition is a wonderful example of community partners working together to create more accessible, inclusive employment opportunities for people with disabilities.

Congratulations to Esther, the Project SEARCH team at St. Joe’s, and everyone involved!

The City of Brantford, in collaboration with the Brantford Accessibility Advisory Committee (BAAC), proudly recognized the recipients of the 2026 Accessibility Improvement Awards during the Brantford City Council meeting on May 26, as part of National AccessAbility Week (May 31 – June 6, 2026). These awards honour individuals, groups, and organizations that have made significant contributions to enhancing accessibility for persons with disabilities.

This year’s honourees include Nicole Callander, founder of Friends 4 Kindness, for her efforts in creating inclusive social opportunities; Michayla Del Guidice, recognized for her advocacy and leadership in the Information and Communication category; Leny Hardman, acknowledged for her impactful work in improving accessible transportation; St. Joseph’s Lifecare Centre, awarded for their commitment to inclusive employment through the Project | SEARCH program; and Nova Vita, commended for their longstanding dedication to accessible and trauma-informed support services.

Award recipients were selected through public nominations reviewed by the Brantford Accessibility Advisory Committee. Their achievements reflect a shared commitment to advancing accessibility and fostering a more inclusive community.

What does it mean to be a volunteer?

A volunteer is someone who gives their time, energy, and skills to support others and strengthen their community 💙💚

At Community Living Brant, our volunteers do just that.

Throughout this week, we’ve highlighted just some of the ways volunteers contribute across our organization—from leadership and oversight, person-centered practices, upholding rights, supporting sustainability, and connecting directly with people and families.

Your contributions are an important part of our work, helping us stay grounded in our mission, strengthen our accreditation efforts, and most importantly, support people to live the life they choose.

Interested in getting involved? We’d love to hear from you.

Meet Nicole 💙

Nicole volunteers at our EarlyON program, always arriving with a smile and ready to greet and play with the children and families who attend.

We appreciate her willingness to jump in and help wherever needed. She enjoys connecting with families, sharing her thoughts in conversation, and—of course—keeping us all up to date with her weather updates!

As part of National Volunteer Week, we’re recognizing the volunteers who share their time, experience, and perspective with us. 💙

Today, we’re highlighting our Board of Directors.

Our Board Members volunteer their time to provide leadership, oversight, and direction—helping ensure we continue to move forward as an organization.

Their work may happen behind the scenes, but its impact is felt across everything we do.

Thank you for your leadership, commitment, and the time you dedicate to this role.
