⚠️ Clarification on Stage 3 Water Restrictions ⚠️ We’ve heard from many of you with questions about the current Stage 3 Watering Restrictions, and we want to clear the air.
Last week, Stage 3 Watering Restrictions were implemented in response to ongoing dry conditions and the urgent need to reduce water use. While our current Water Use Regulation Bylaw still permits limited lawn watering and pool filling (1 day per week), the messaging we’ve shared based on our assessments asks residents not to water lawns or fill pools at this time. Why the difference?
Based on current water supply conditions, it was determined that the existing Stage 3 bylaw measures would not achieve the level of water reduction needed to protect our system. As a result, we are asking the community to go beyond what the bylaw currently requires, with plans in place to amend it.
The current bylaw ➡️ allows limited outdoor use for lawn watering and pools.
The proposed bylaw ➡️ no lawn watering or pool filling.
Recommendations will be presented to the RDNO Board of Directors on June 17 to formally update the bylaw to align with the stricter measures currently required. We recognize this mismatch may be confusing, and we appreciate your patience as we go through the formal bylaw amendment process.
We are strongly asking all residents to follow the stricter guidance. Your efforts are critical to protecting the essential water supply, avoiding further restrictions, and supporting our entire community during this dry period. Thank you for doing your part and helping us conserve water when it matters most.
