Insurance works best when both sides do their part. Alongside your rights, Alberta auto insurance customers have three main responsibilities:
1️⃣ Ask questions and keep your insurer informed of any changes
2️⃣ Report accidents and claims accurately and as soon as possible
3️⃣ Work in good faith to resolve any disagreement
Doing your part helps you get the right coverage and helps your claim move along smoothly. πŸ™Œ

❄️ Winter tip: leave a little more space.
On slick roads, aim for at least three times your normal following distance. That extra gap gives you time to see a problem, ease off and brake gently.
Why it matters: Alberta’s average collision claim has risen and an at-fault claim can affect your premium for up to 6 years. A little extra space costs you nothing. πŸš—

πŸš— Your bumper isn’t just plastic anymore. Behind it, there may be radar, cameras and sensors that help your car brake, stay in its lane and park. After even a light bump, those systems may need to be scanned, repaired and calibrated, and that adds up.
Our Market & Trends 2026 report shows Alberta’s average collision claim has risen about 46.9% since 2021, even though collision claims are happening about 7.4% less often. Fewer collisions, but each one tends to cost more to fix.
What can you do?
πŸ” After any collision, ask the shop if sensors need to be scanned or calibrated
πŸ“„ Know your coverage and your deductible
πŸ’¬ Ask your insurer or broker how repairs on a newer vehicle are handled
πŸ…ΏοΈ Leave a little extra room in parking lots and slow traffic

πŸ’‘ Want to help keep your insurance costs down? It starts with how you drive.
Your driving record is one of the biggest rate factors you can actually control. At-fault claims can affect your premium for up to 6 years, and traffic convictions for up to 3.
Five everyday habits that protect your safety, your record and your wallet:
πŸ“΅ Stay focused. Phone away before the car is in drive
🐒 Follow speed limits. School and playground zones count as major convictions
πŸš— Leave enough space. About 2 seconds in good conditions, more in rain or snow
↩️ Signal your turns
πŸ‘€ Drive defensively
The habits that keep your record clean are the same ones that keep you safe. πŸ™Œ

πŸš— It's National Name Your Car Day!
Whether it's a nickname that just stuck or a full-blown personality you've assigned to your ride, we want to know β€” what did YOU name your car?

🚢 October is Pedestrian Safety Month - a reminder as daylight hours shrink and more commutes happen at dusk. A car offers you protection. The person crossing in front of it has none. That's why Alberta law requires drivers to yield to pedestrians at every crosswalk, marked or not. Failing to do so carries an $810 fine and 4 demerit points.
A few habits that go a long way:
πŸ‘€ Scan for pedestrians before you reach the crosswalk, not after
🐒 Slow down near schools and residential areas
↩️ Watch for pedestrians when turning β€” it's a common blind spot
πŸ‘‹ Make eye contact when you can, so you both know what happens next
It costs a driver a few seconds. It can cost a pedestrian everything. Full breakdown on the blog: https://www.airbfordrivers.ca/articles/pedestrian-safety-month/?utm_source=facebook&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=pedestrian_safety_month
