🏔️ Did you know? Mount Kidd has two summits and rises approximately 2,958 metres (9,705 feet) above sea level? 🍁

Welcome to the breathtaking beauty of Mount Kidd in Kananaskis Country, Alberta! 🇨🇦 Its dramatic, layered rock faces and rugged slopes create an unforgettable backdrop along the scenic mountain roads of the Canadian Rockies.

⛰️ A little history: Mount Kidd was named in 1907 after Fred Kidd, a resident of nearby Morley who helped outfit early geological expeditions in the region. Its striking rock layers tell a story of ancient geological forces that shaped the Rockies over millions of years.

🚗 Travel Tip: You can admire Mount Kidd while driving along the scenic Kananaskis Trail (Highway 40). The route offers spectacular mountain views, lush evergreen forests, and beautiful autumn colours. Look for designated pullouts where you can safely stop to take photos. Please check seasonal road closures before your trip.

📸 Best time to visit: Early morning for crisp mountain views, or late afternoon when the sunlight illuminates the rugged peaks and golden forests.

🌿 Whether you’re enjoying a peaceful mountain drive, photographing the scenery, or exploring nearby hiking trails, Kananaskis reminds us that sometimes the journey is just as beautiful as the destination.

Sometimes, the most beautiful views are the ones you almost drive past.

We came to Kananaskis looking for autumn colours, winding roads, and those unforgettable Rocky Mountain views. And then, along the way, we stopped at Kananaskis Village Viewpoint…

For a moment, everything seemed to slow down.

The mountains stretched across the horizon, the trees were beginning to glow with the colours of fall, and the crisp mountain air made it easy to forget about everything else.

What I love about places like this is that you don’t always have to hike for hours to find something beautiful. Sometimes, you simply need to pull over, step outside, and look around.

📍 Kananaskis Village, Alberta
🍁 Fall is especially beautiful, with golden colours adding another layer to the mountain scenery.
🥾 An easy scenic stop for travellers who want to experience the beauty of Kananaskis without a strenuous hike.

So if you’re exploring Kananaskis, don’t be in too much of a hurry.

Take the scenic route. Make a stop. Look up.
Because sometimes, the view you remember most is the one you never planned to find. 🤍
