Bulletin
Kapuskasing Welcome Centre
Electric Vehicle (EV) Charger Service Update
Issued: May 4, 2026

Effective May 4, 2026, the electric vehicle (EV) chargers located at the Kapuskasing Welcome Centre will no longer be available for public use.

This decision follows a comprehensive operational review of charger usage, associated electricity costs, and long-term service sustainability. While the chargers have supported EV travel along Highway 11, ongoing challenges including high operating costs and limited utilization have made continued operation no longer viable.

EV users are encouraged to plan accordingly and utilize alternative charging options available within the community and region, including the charger located at Eastview Chevrolet Buick GMC.

The Kapuskasing Economic Development Corporation remains committed to supporting sustainable initiatives and will continue to monitor opportunities that align with long-term economic and environmental goals.

We appreciate your understanding.

Celebrating 100 Years of Nadon’s Jewellery in Kapuskasing!

The Town of Kapuskasing is proud to recognize Nadon’s Jewellery for reaching the remarkable milestone of 100 years in business.

Established in 1925, Nadon’s Jewellery has remained a fourth-generation, family-owned business, serving the community with quality craftsmanship, in-store repairs and outstanding customer service for a full century. Reaching 100 years of continuous operation is a rare achievement and a true reflection of dedication, hard work and the strong support of our community.

On behalf of Mayor Dave Plourde, Council and the Town of Kapuskasing, Councillor Bruce Newton had the pleasure of presenting an official 100-year anniversary certificate to Joey Nadon in recognition of this incredible milestone.

Congratulations to the Nadon family on 100 years of serving Kapuskasing and thank you for being such an important part of our community’s history.

Bad news: we lose an hour of sleep tonight.

Good news: the sun sticks around longer.

Don’t forget to set your clocks ahead one hour before bed tonight.

And since you’re already up on a chair changing clocks, it’s a good time to check your smoke detector batteries too.

Our EDO Dave spent the past few days in Toronto at the PDAC Convention, representing the Town of/Ville de Kapuskasing alongside Mayor Dave Plourde.

PDAC is the world’s largest gathering in the mining and mineral exploration sector, and for Northern Ontario communities it’s an important opportunity to make sure our voices are part of the conversation about investment, infrastructure, and the future of resource development in the north.

Over the course of the conference we connected with industry partners, provincial representatives, and municipal colleagues from across Northern Ontario to talk about how communities like Kapuskasing support the region’s growing mining sector.

As exploration and development continue to expand across Northern Ontario, the role of communities like ours becomes even more important from workforce attraction and housing to municipal services and regional infrastructure.

Events like PDAC allow us to build relationships, share our community’s story, and ensure Kapuskasing remains part of the broader strategy supporting Canada’s resource economy.

Northern Ontario has always been a cornerstone of Canada’s resource economy and it was great to be part of the conversations shaping where it goes next.

Always proud to represent Kapuskasing.
