📚🧡 National Indigenous History Month Book Spotlight 🧡📚
One of the best ways to learn about Indigenous histories, cultures, and perspectives is through stories.
Here in Northwest BC, we are fortunate to have connections to talented Indigenous authors whose work shares important stories, teachings, and experiences. Consider exploring books by local Haisla authors, such as Eden Robinson, whose novels bring together contemporary life, family, culture, and Indigenous storytelling, or Wa'xaid (Cecil Pau)l, whose book, "Stories from the Magic Canoe of Wa'xaid", offers powerful teachings and personal stories that highlight the strength of Haisla culture, the importance of traditional knowledge, and the challenges Indigenous communities have faced through colonization and environmental change.
Do you have a favourite Indigenous author or book to recommend? We'd love to hear your suggestions in the comments.
