📚🍁 Our Citizenship Preparation classes are in full swing!

The fall cohort has been full of engaged and energetic students who are learning about Canada and preparing for the next chapter of their settlement journey. 🇨🇦

We’re especially proud to celebrate Dennis, who passed his Citizenship Test with an impressive 18 out of 20! 🎉👏

At LUSO, we’re here to support you along your journey — from learning and preparing to building connections and feeling at home in your community. 🤝

📅 The current Citizenship Preparation class runs until October 27, 2026.

We’re cheering on all of our students as they continue working toward their goals! ✨

On Wednesday, September 30, we had 35 seniors travel to Appleland Station for a wonderful day of fresh air, connection, wellness, and apple picking! 🍎🌳

Our group explored the orchards, learned about different apple varieties, and picked apples to take home and enjoy. It was a wonderful opportunity to get outdoors, connect with others, and enjoy the simple pleasures of the season. 🍂

This trip was made possible through generous funding from the Province of Ontario’s Seniors Community Grant, helping support opportunities for seniors to stay healthy, active, engaged, and connected within their community. 🤝✨

We think it’s safe to say we had an a-peel-ing day! 🍎😊

Today, we’re celebrating the teachers who support children and youth every day — helping them learn, grow, build confidence, and feel connected

At LUSO Community Services, our Settlement Workers in Schools (SWIS) team works alongside schools to support newcomer students and families as they navigate school life and connect with their communities. 🤝

✨ Are you a newcomer family looking for support at school? Connect with LUSO’s SWIS team to learn more about the services and resources available to you.

Thank you to all the educators who help create welcoming and supportive learning environments! 🍎📚

September flew by — and we can’t believe it’s already over! This month our literacy programs were full of learning, laughter, and community.
From playing carrom and sharing cultural meals together to exploring art and storytelling from around the world to crafting our visions for who we want to be in 2027 — we proved once again that literacy isn’t boring… it’s vibrant, creative, and for everyone.
Swipe through to see the moments that made September unforgettable ✨
