Happy Pride Month! 🌈

Pride is a time to celebrate identity, diversity, and community - honouring the courage it takes to live authentically while fostering spaces where everyone feels safe, respected, and proud. Together, we recognize the resilience and contributions of 2SLGBTQ+ communities across Canada. It’s also an opportunity to reflect on the ongoing journey toward equality and the work still needed to ensure everyone feels seen, heard, and truly valued.

Imagine building a country that refused to call you a citizen. Early Chinese immigrants in Canada faced exactly that reality, labouring, serving, and contributing while being excluded from the nation they helped shape. Citizenship didn’t come until 1947.

How did Canada move from the Exclusion Era to today’s multicultural identity, and what legacies did Chinese Canadians leave along the way?

Join award‑winning historian Eunice C. Der as she uncovers the stories, struggles, and lasting impact of Chinese Canadians, and why remembering this history matters now more than ever.
