Working groups over the last 2 days have determined that in the event of a severe earthquake
Mayne Island residents would likely be on their own for up to 7 days with no outside help. This means no power or water and possibly damaged roads and structures.

Good afternoon. Tonight, beginning at 7:00 pm, the fire department will be out for a drive in honour of Luke, who is no longer with us. The trucks will have their red lights on, but no sirens. Please do not be alarmed if you see us out there, and feel free to give us a wave.

🔥 Fire Danger Rating Update – Mayne Island 🔥

The fire danger rating has dropped to LOW. With this change and rain in the forecast, open burning will be permitted starting October 1st.

👉 Please note: Burn permits are required, but permit sales will not begin until October 1st.

We want to thank the community for respecting the burn ban throughout the summer. Your cooperation made a big difference in keeping Mayne Island safe.

As we move into burning season, please continue to burn safely, responsibly, and only with a valid permit.
