Chief Dine’s experience with Pender Fire started in 1998, and his current role as Chief began in 2020, during the challenging COVID years. Chief Dine brought a reinvigorated passion for the fire service and the care of his responders. It was time for change, and he was leading the charge, with other fire departments across the province now following suit. From implementing a duty crew schedule for guaranteed coverage around the clock 365 days a year, fighting for the safety of our community, its residents and visitors, to continuing to conduct commercial property inspections.
He was also instrumental in creating the Southern Gulf Islands Fire/Rescue Cadet Camp, which changed the lives of countless young people in our community. The department is saying goodbye to a great leader and a great friend. I know we will all miss his passion and experience, but even more so, the pearls of wisdom he would leave you with whenever you came to him with something you needed to talk through-fire department or life, it mattered not. Thank you again, Chief Dine. We all love you and wish you the best in your future endeavours.
