As part of our social studies unit on government, the grade 3 and 4 students welcomed our School Board Trustee Kathy Kemmere, and local county councilor Jennifer Lutz to come and speak to us. Students learned about our school division and what the role of trustees are, and about county governance and the importance of voting and running for positions. A big thank you to these ladies for coming out to speak to our kids!

After 3 exciting weeks, the eggs finally hatched! 🐣 We loved learning all about the hatching process and were thrilled to spend a day enjoying our adorable new chicks. It was an unforgettable hands-on experience that brought our learning to life!

Our second egg candling was an exciting one! 🐣

The large dark area we noticed in the eggs before has now developed into a growing chick! This morning, the eggs were removed from their holder as we enter the final stage of incubation.

If all goes well, we’re expecting our first chicks to start hatching this Wednesday. The countdown to hatch day is officially on!🥚✨

Students were excited to welcome Mrs. Boffey to class as she demonstrated the process of egg candling. Using a bright light, Mrs. Boffey showed how candling allows people to see inside an egg to monitor embryo development and check the egg's health without opening it. This hands-on learning experience gave students a fascinating look at the science behind hatching chicks and helped them better understand the growth taking place inside the eggs.
