Kinder students enjoyed some time outside investigating sunflowers, looking closely at all the parts that make up this amazing plant! We even sampled a few of the sweet seeds. Thank you to parents for sending in the sunflowers!

It’s Fire Prevention Week and this lucky grade 4 student won the draw to be Fire Chief for a Day on Wednesday. Students from Olds area schools spent the morning at the fire station, were treated to lunch and rode back to school in style in the big trucks!
Thanks to the Olds Fire Department for making this experience possible and letting the rest of the school check out the trucks!

Reed Ranch students observed Orange Shirt Day by exploring the words, “Every Child Matters”. They each wrote down ways that they matter to our school community on an orange strip of paper and we created a huge chain! We all matter…and we are all connected and important. Additional age appropriate learning occurred within classrooms earlier in the week. Thank you to Ms. Cranston for organizing this activity for students!

Grade 5 and 6 students have been practicing their observation skills in nature. After the discovery of a salamander while out on a walk, students spent some time journaling what they noticed, wondered, and were curious to explore further.

Each student created their own research question, gathered facts from reliable websites, and summarized their findings in their own words. Once the morning of discovery wrapped up, their little salamander friend was safely returned to where he was found!
