This page is not monitored 24/7. In the event of an EMERGENCY dial 911. Point Edward Fire & Rescue is a Volunteer Fire Department located in South Western Ontario. We are a small village situated on Lake Huron and share an international border with Port Huron, Michigan. We consist of 30 Volunteer Firefighters, a full-time Fire Chief and a full-time Fire Prevention Officer. Based out of the Point E

dward station is Engine 1, Ladder 2, Rescue 3, Unit 4 (Command Unit), Unit 5 (Support Unit) and Marine 1. Marine 2 is our primary marine unit based out of Bridgeview Marina.

🚒🌊 Monday Night Training 🌊🚒

Point Edward Fire & Rescue members spent Monday evening training on water rescue fundamentals, including shore-based rescue techniques, rescue swimmer operations, and boat handling skills.

Regular training ensures our firefighters are prepared to respond safely and effectively when emergencies occur on and around the water.

While on the water training, the department received a call for a boat in distress down river, which was quickly dealt with.

On Saturday June 20, 2026 at approximately 8:00 pm, Point Edward Fire & Rescue was dispatched to a Water Rescue in the St. Clair River.

Point Edward Fire & Rescue Marine Unit was dispatched to assist the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre (JRCC) for an abandoned inflatable located on the Canadian shoreline of the St. Clair River near Imperial Oil. Our marine unit worked with Sarnia Fire Rescue to conduct a search of the river. No one was located requiring assistance in the area and the search was suspended.

At the conclusion of the search, the owner of the inflatable was not located and it is unknown who it belongs to. It is important to put your contact information on inflatables or any kind of watercraft in the event it is located unattended. If anyone knows the owner of this inflatable you are asked to contact the nearest coast guard station.

It is up to all Village residents to read and understand the rules regarding open-air burns and reporting a violation of a By-Law is to be done through the OPP (1-888-310-1122 or *OPP on a mobile device).

On Thursday June 4, 2026 members of Point Edward Fire & Rescue participated in the Sarnia Area Disaster Simulation (SADS) located in the Village of Point Edward. This joint training exercise is organized by BASES - Sarnia-Lambton's Industry Partner.

This year's exercise involved an overturned transport truck with a simulated flammable product leak. Emergency responders worked together to simulate isolating and controlling the leak. The exercise included Sarnia Fire Rescue, St. Clair Township Fire Department, Lambton EMS, Lambton OPP, Nova Chemicals, Arlanxeo, Suncor, Imperial Oil and CF Industries.

On Thursday May 14, 2026 at approximately 11:00 pm, Point Edward Fire & Rescue received a call for assistance from the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre (JRCC) after they had received information in relation to an unknown vessel taking on water in the St. Clair River near Lake Huron. This generated a large scale response on both the Canadian and American sides of the St. Clair River.

Point Edward Fire & Rescue deployed land and marine assets in the area in support of the search being coordinated by JRCC. Our marine unit searched the St. Clair River in coordination with marine units from Sarnia Fire Rescue, Canadian Coast Guard, US Coast Guard, Port Huron Fire Department and Port Huron Police Department. A helicopter from US Coast Guard Air Station Detroit was also sent to search the area.

After an extended search of the area, responders did not locate anyone in the area requiring assistance or indications of persons/debris in the search area. Ultimately the search on the Canadian side was suspended by JRCC. If anyone has any information in relation to the origin of this distress call they are requested to contact the nearest coast guard station.
