For more than 30 years, Action Ministries of Grand Manan has supported island residents facing food insecurity and continues to respond as demand grows in the community.

With support from a 2025 FCF Community Grant, the food bank provided quarterly food provision bundles with extra staples, school snacks, baking supplies, and holiday meal items for local households. Youth volunteers also helped pack the bundles throughout the year.

Thank you Action Ministries!

We’re so excited to share that Fundy Community Foundation has been named one of the top 5 finalists in the 2026 Excellence NB People’s Choice Awards for Best Charity! 🎉

We’re honoured to be recognized alongside so many incredible organizations doing meaningful work across New Brunswick. Since 1993, we’ve had the privilege of supporting communities across southwestern New Brunswick through grants, endowment funds, and local philanthropy, and this recognition belongs just as much to our donors, fund holders, volunteers, and community partners as it does to us.

If you’d like to support us, voting is now open and you can vote every day until June 8.

This May, 56 students from four Charlotte County schools took part in the Youth Arts Festival at Sunbury Shores Arts and Nature Centre.

Throughout the day, students explored ceramics, drawing, writing, printmaking, painting, and metalwork alongside local artists, instructors, and volunteers. For many, it was a rare opportunity to engage with hands-on arts education outside the classroom.

As arts programming becomes increasingly limited in many schools, experiences like this help young people build confidence, creativity, and connection through the arts.

Thank you to Sunbury Shores for continuing to create meaningful opportunities for youth in our region!

Did you know that you can support FCF and any of the funds we hold with a monthly donation?

It really is this simple:
-Visit fundycommunityfoundation.ca
-Click "donate"
-Choose the amount you would like to donate each month and the fund you would like to support. A charitable receipt is issued by CanadaHelps.

It's kind of like a subscription for philanthropy! 😊

Did you know that FCF has granted out over $4.5 million dollars since we were established 33 years ago? That is an AMAZING number for a small rural foundation and is thanks to the incredible generosity of the people in our region. Thank you southwestern NB!

Our Community Funds fuel our annual Community Grants. Applications open in the spring of each year and since the pandemic, requests for funds have exceeded our available funds by three times. Most recent requests have been around food insecurity which is a pressing need across the country, and we are no exception. Thank you to those amazing people who support our Community Fund with a donation.

One of our largest funds is The Dorothy and Kenneth Langmaid Animal Welfare Fund which provides annual grants to four SPCAs in New Brunswick.

When explaining his reasons for establishing the fund, Mr. Langmaid said, “We both have a great love of animals and have looked after stray and injured animals for many years. Dorothy spent a great deal of time confined to bed and had plenty of cats and dogs to keep her company and take care of her... After she was well again she [always] worked with animals and for their welfare… We hope that this fund will help those who will be working with animals in the future by giving a small sense of stability to the cause and hopefully encouraging others to contribute to the welfare of animals in the future.”

We are so grateful for donors like the Langmaids!

By establishing a Designated Fund, donors have the opportunity to specify which charity or charities they would like to support in perpetuity. Would you like to set up a fund that supports the local food bank every year? The local library? Your favourite museum? If you would like to learn more about setting up an endowed Designated Fund in your name to benefit a specific charity – we would love to help. Contact Kirsten at [email protected]
