Visit us at the PRIDE FESTIVAL this Sunday, MAY 31!

Join us in Upper Queen’s Park from 1:30 - 4:30 PM. And meet us at Tom Patterson Theatre at 1:00 PM to join the March before the Festival starts.

🌈We’ll be there making colourful, vibrant bracelets and flowers, sharing resources, handing out reusable menstrual products, gathering names for our awesome giveaway (SPL Tote + 5 early release books), and of course dancing and grooving and celebrating.

We love kicking off Pride Month this way. See you there!

Yep. We’re period positive around here. And we think National Menstrual Hygiene Day on May 28th is worth talking about!

At SPL we have FREE menstrual products available for all of you who menstruate.

🌸 Individual products in washooms
🌸 Reusable products — such as Diva Discs, boxes of Organic Disposable and Days For Girls Pads at the Snack Stop
🌸 Visit us at PRIDE Festival this Sunday to pick up some products

SPL is a member of the Huron-Perth Period Poverty Task Force.

We had a VERY good year! Help us celebrate our accomplishments from 2025 as we continue to make this a library for everyone. 🩷 Thanks to all of YOU for making it all worth it. (Check out our 2025 Annual Report in the bio link.)

Our upgraded elevator is complete!! Thank you for your patience as we pivoted creatively during these past few weeks. (And welcomed a couple of rogue birds.)

🎬 Good news!! If you missed the screening of The Librarians… it’s not too late. Phew.

It’s now streaming on Kanopy — free with your library card.

We love Kanopy and we think you will too: No subscriptions. No ads. Thoughtful films, documentaries, and series. All accessible with your library card!

REPOST

THE LIBRARIANS (2025), directed by Kim A. Snyder, follows librarians on the front lines of the fight for democracy and intellectual freedom. Facing harassment, threats, and growing challenges to their work, these librarians continue to stand up for the freedom to read.

Stream it now through Kanopy using your SPL library card.

Meet this year’s amazing Summer Program Coordinators – Emilie and Owen!

These two are already making waves, and they’ve barely begun. With our “DIVE IN” theme for this year’s summer programming, we’d better dive in and introduce them!

Meet Emilie Stanley -- with a BA in Psychology and English and currently completing a Bachelor of Education.
“Growing up in Stratford, I could always count on SPL to be a welcoming space to learn, create, and explore and I can't wait to share the essence of SPL through fun summer activities."
EMILIE FUN FACTS: Emilie loves outdoor sports like hiking and kayaking (she and her dog, Oakley, like to paddle board and hike together!), playing board games with family, and watching movies. And her favourite sea creature is a SEA TURTLE!

Does Owen look familiar? That’s right – we couldn’t let him not come back!
Once again -- meet Owen Shantz! Now with a BA in Psychology from Wilfrid Laurier University -- and returning to complete a Bachelor of Education.
“Last summer, I worked as a Summer Program Coordinator and I had so much fun with everyone who I met through our programs, school visits, and just meeting in the library. There was no other place I'd rather spend my summer than the SPL with all of your smiling faces.”
OWEN FUN FACTS: Owen loves the Toronto Blue Jays and has played baseball his whole life. He also loves Pokémon (his favourites are Corviknight and Lucario). And his favourite sea creature is a GREAT WHITE SHARK!

Well, we adore working with this duo already – and we can’t wait for all the kiddos to meet them. If you can't wait until summer, come to our PA DAY Imagination Ignited! event on June 5 -- 10:30-11:30 AM & 2:00-3:00 PM in the Tim Taylor Lounge at Rotary Complex. We're partnering with Stratford Festival, and these two will be there.

Our Summer at the Library starts July 6! And TD Summer Reading Club starts in June.
