📣News Release: MPDS is now active in Perth County! Perth County Paramedic Services has successfully implemented the Medical Priority Dispatch System (MPDS) for all medical 911 calls.

MPDS helps ensure the right resource is sent to the right patient at the right time, prioritizing life-threatening emergencies and helping keep critical paramedic resources available for those who need them most.

Thank you to our residents, partner agencies, dispatch personnel, paramedics, and municipal stakeholders for supporting the successful implementation of MPDS.

📣News Release - Perth County Stewardship Program Spring 2027 Intake Now Open!

The Perth County Stewardship program has opened the application intake for Spring 2027 planting projects. The grant program supports local landowners and community groups in enhancing the natural environment through projects focused on planting windbreaks, block plantings, forest restoration, forest health assessments, and community tree sale events. The program is popular, so applicants are encouraged to apply early.

🚑 MPDS starts this week!

Beginning October 14, 2026, Perth County Paramedic Services will launch the Medical Priority Dispatch System (MPDS) for all medical 911 calls in Perth County.
This enhanced approach helps Emergency Medical Dispatchers identify the urgency of each call and prioritize patients based on their medical needs helping ensure the right resources are sent to the right patient at the right time.

📞 When you call 911, you may notice dispatchers asking more detailed questions. These questions do not delay help. They help dispatchers understand the situation, determine the appropriate response, and provide important instructions while paramedics are on the way.

Thank you to our residents, paramedics, dispatchers, partner agencies and municipal partners for supporting this important change.

📣 News Release: Just in time for Remembrance Day, Stratford-Perth Archives is inviting the public to attend a free workshop from author and historian Eric Edwards about decoding First World War service records. Participants will learn more about how to uncover more information about ancestors, both soldiers and nurses, who served in the First World War.

Two sessions of the workshop will be hosted at the Stratford-Perth Archives, located at 4273 Line 34, Stratford. Attendees can choose one of two dates:
➡ Saturday, October 17 from 2:00pm – 4:00pm
➡ Saturday, October 24 from 2:00pm – 4:00pm

Seats are limited, so interested participants are encouraged to reserve a spot early. Register for free by emailing [email protected] or call (519) 271-0531 x 259. The registration deadline is Wednesday, October 14 at 4:00pm.

Join us at Stratford-Perth Archives for a special free workshop with local military historian and author Eric Edwards. Learn how to decode First World War service files and discover more about your nurse or soldier ancestors who served in the Great War.

The workshop will be a 2-hour session with Eric guiding participants through the research process while also providing insight into other useful resources for further research. Much of the research will be completed online so participants must bring their own laptop or tablet to be able to take part.

The workshop will take place on Saturday, October 17 from 2-4 PM, and the workshop will be available again on an alternative date on Saturday, October 24, 2-4 PM.

Great live entertainment has been available in Perth County for many years. For example, a century ago in 1926, the Ben Hokea Orchestra, whose leader was known as the “King of the Hawaiian Guitar,” performed in Mitchell. Stratford also welcomed a variety of performers throughout that year, including Harry Goodman’s Revue.

In Listowel, crowds gathered on September 25, 1926 to see the Musical Eckardts. The Musical Eckardts were a popular troupe of male musicians and entertainers who performed widely during the early to mid-20th century. Their performances featured a unique combination of metal percussion instruments, vocals, and, most notably, Swiss bell ringing. When they came to Listowel, they performed at McDonald’s Music Hall, which was located on the upper floor of 190–193 Main Street West, as part of the McDonald Block.
