This year’s awards recognize excellence across 10 categories, including Agribusiness, Research & Innovation, Education, Promotion, Women’s Farming, Youth and Farm Family Excellence.

Eligible individuals and businesses can apply themselves or be nominated by someone else.

Perth County's Administration Offices (1 Huron Street, Stratford) & the Stratford-Perth Archives (4273 Line 34, Stratford) will be closed Monday, September 7, 2026.

All locations will resume regular hours Tuesday, September 8, 2026.

Perth County remembers former County Council Member and Ellice Township Reeve Fred Knechtel, who passed away recently.

Fred was deeply committed to his community and to municipal service. As the County honours his life and service, flags at County facilities will remain lowered until the day of his memorial service.

We are grateful to the Stratford-Perth Archives for sharing these photographs and newspaper article, which offer a glimpse into Fred’s years of service and the history of our community.

Our sincere condolences to Fred’s family and friends.

Today, Perth County Warden Dean Trentowsky and Deputy Warden Sue Orr attended the Tipi of Huron-Perth Open House, celebrating the Tipi’s new home at The Stratford Perth Museum.

Located along the Stratford Perth Heritage Trail, the Tipi of Huron-Perth grew from a vision of Christin Dennis, who wanted to create a space for gathering, learning, sharing and connection, while creating opportunities for residents and visitors to engage with Indigenous histories, cultures and perspectives in our region.

Congratulations to the Tipi of Huron-Perth, along with the Stratford Perth Museum, on this exciting new chapter. Their work and partnership have created a meaningful new home for the Tipi and an important place for continued learning and community connection.

Many communities across Perth County have been home to talented bands that routinely performed at local fairs, parades, and other community events. Listowel, Stratford, Mitchell, Sebringville, and Brodhagen are just a few of the towns and cities that have had their own community bands over the years - some of which remain active today.

In 1926, the Listowel Brass Band won third place in the Band Tournament at the Canadian National Exhibition. The Listowel Band first entered the Band Tournament at the CNE two years prior in 1924. That year, the band was ranked fourth out of the eight bands in the competition.

The competition was held on Thursday September 2, 1926. The Listowel Band competed in “Class C” with thirteen other bands from throughout the province. Each band was judged on their playing of “Overture Gala Night” by Chenette. For the first time, the Listowel Band earned third place and a prize of $100.000. The first-place winners, The Robinson Family Band of Guelph, and the second-place winners, a New Toronto Citizens’ organization, each won $300 and $200 respectively.

Business doesn’t stop at municipal boundaries and neither does economic development.

We hopped across the county line into Huron County today to tour Marcrest Manufacturing alongside Ministers Trevor Jones and Lisa Thompson, and MPP Matthew Rae.

Businesses care about access to talent, infrastructure, markets and opportunities to grow, not which side of a county road they’re on.

We were joined by local businesses to end the day with a roundtable discussion on opportunities to support agribusiness industry in our region.

Strong rural businesses strengthen the entire region, and collaboration across boundaries matters.
