For people living with Parkinson’s disease, changes in voice and communication can be deeply isolating.

At Chilliwack General Hospital, a new group voice therapy program is helping participants strengthen their communication skills, rebuild confidence and reconnect—with their voices and with each other.

“Voice therapy isn’t only about volume or clarity. It’s about helping people feel heard again,” says Ramanjit, speech-language pathologist.

Through a supportive six-week group model, the program is also improving access—helping more people receive care sooner, together.

💬 Connection. Confidence. Being heard.

A modernized interventional radiology suite at Abbotsford Regional Hospital is now open, making it easier for people in the Fraser Valley to the care they need in their own community.

With this new technology, patients can receive precise, minimally invasive procedures closer to family, friends and the support systems that make a difficult time a little easier. It also means new options to help manage common conditions and improve quality of life.

Behind every upgrade like this are real people: patients who can stay closer to home, families who can be there to support them, and care teams who have the tools they need.

This $6 million project was made possible through funding from the Province, the Fraser Valley Regional Hospital District and generous donors to the Fraser Valley Health Care Foundation.

🙏 Huge thanks to Fraser Valley Health Care Foundation and the Braun family for helping to make this possible. Your support is bringing leading-edge care to our communities.

🎉 A new chapter for care at Royal Columbian Hospital begins on Sunday, May 31.

The Jim Pattison Acute Care Tower is opening its doors — bringing a new emergency department, inpatient units, intensive care and cardiac intensive care into a modern, purpose-built space designed for the people we serve.

This is just the beginning. Later this year, expanded surgical and interventional services, more space for labour and delivery, and a larger neonatal intensive care unit will open, further transforming care for people, their families and our care teams.

People throughout the province will have expanded access to specialized services in this state-of-the-art facility.

This milestone reflects the dedication of so many — from staff and medical staff to patient and family partners, construction teams, donors and community partners.

Together, we’re building the future of health care.

Do you have extra human milk to donate?

Meet Jatinder and her newborn, Gurseerat.

After Gurseerat was born, Jatinder had more milk than her baby needed.

She also knew that not every family has that same experience.

“I like to help people. I had a lot of milk when my baby was born,” says Jatinder.

That’s when she learned about the gift of donor milk and decided to become a donor herself.

Human milk gives babies protective antibodies and the nutrition they need for healthy growth and development.

“Your milk can help the tiniest babies. Last year, 103 donors helped 1,793 babies, but donations dropped by 11 per cent [in Fraser Health],” says Andrea Singh, Baby Friendly Initiative Project Leader.

That means the milk bank needs your help.

Donor human milk is especially important for very small, premature babies and infants with certain health conditions when a parent’s own milk is limited. It can help protect them from infections and serious complications.

Interested in becoming a milk donor now or in the future? Contact your local public health unit or the Provincial Milk Bank at 604-875-2371.
