At Canada’s National Ballet School (NBS), excellence, access and inclusion fuel our belief in sharing the transformational power of dance to change lives for the better. NBS is sharing dance through the Olympic-calibre training and holistic preparation of young dancers for careers on the world stage, and by successfully training teachers, ballet masters and artistic directors who hold posts in schools and companies across Canada and around the globe. Within communities across Canada, NBS is sharing dance by empowering school teachers and community programmers in using dance to enhance kids’ fundamental movement skills, inspire creativity, and improve mental and emotional well-being. With in-person and video-streaming delivery models, NBS engages seniors to be more active, socially connected and confident through the artistic expression of dance. Whether you want to own the spotlight, or dance for the joy of it, you belong at NBS.

NBS remembers Sir Christopher Ondaatje, O.C., C.B.E., whose Ondaatje Ballet Prize has supported countless alumni. Over the years, recipients of this prize have gone on to build remarkable careers within leading companies in Canada and around the world.

From October 22-24, dancers from our Company Life Program will take centre stage at this year's Fall For Dance North Festival (FFDN) in the Canadian premiere of Justin Peck's Partita.

The piece celebrates the next generation of artists, featuring NBS dancers alongside recent graduates of Toronto Metropolitan University’s dance program.

A special connection spanning three generations of dancers!

During a recent visit to The School of American Ballet, Canada’s National Ballet School’s Artistic Director, Margaret Tracey, is pictured with the legendary Suki Schorer, who taught and mentored Margaret throughout her training at SAB and professional career with New York City Ballet.

Today, Suki Schorer teaches recent NBS graduate Marley who is now studying at SAB, bringing this connection full circle!
