我於1991年3月在多倫多成立「駐加拿大台北經濟文化代表處」，同年4月在溫哥華市設立「駐溫哥華台北經濟文化辦事處」，1992年7月在渥太華設立「駐渥太華台北經濟文化辦事處」。1993年8月我駐加拿大代表處由多倫多移駐加京渥太華市並正式對外運作，原駐渥太華辦事處裁撤，另設駐多倫多辦事處。

🌏 Taiwan’s premier semiconductor events—SEMICON Taiwan and the Semicon Network Summit 2026—officially kicked off this week! This year’s exhibition hits a record high, bringing together over 1,300 companies from 18 countries across 4,300 booths.

President Lai Ching-te attended the summit, emphasizing that amid the rapid evolution of AI, Taiwan stands as the global tech industry’s most trusted partner thanks to its comprehensive semiconductor ecosystem and high-efficiency manufacturing capability. He encouraged international enterprises to deepen their investment and roots in Taiwan.

Centered on "Trust, Resilience, and Prosperity," the summit gathers nearly 600 government representatives and industry leaders from 38 countries to chart the future of global semiconductor supply chains in the AI era.

#2026多倫多台灣節開幕 #台式辦桌 盛大開場｜ 2026 Opening!!

The opening concert welcomes the Nanwang Sisters, from the Nanwang tribe of the Puyuma people in Taitung, whose music cross generations and carry the weight of history in their mother tongue — a source of healing and resistance. Ms. Chia-Ching Hsu, Minister of the Oversea Community Council (僑務委員會 OCAC), flew especially from Taiwan to join the opening ceremony.

This year's special guest, Aysanabee, a four-time JUNO Award-winning Oji-Cree artist from Canada, is a rising star whose soulful voice completely captivated the audience!

His moving lyrics beautifully capture the journey of Indigenous identity.

Aysanabee shared that during his visit to Taiwan last year, connecting with local musicians like the Nanwang Sisters made him realize that despite the distance, Canada and Taiwan share a deeply similar history. Both moved from a dark past of being forbidden to speak their mother tongues to a proud present where they can finally tell their own stories in their own languages. This extraordinary journey from oppression to awakening transcends borders, creating a powerful cultural connection.

Besides the music, food is always a indispendisble part of Taiwanese culture.

Everyone enjoyed authentic dishes prepared by Taiwanese master chefs, perfectly bringing Taiwan’s lively atmosphere and warm hospitality to Toronto Harbourfront! Recreating the most “Taiwanese-flavored” “banquet” (辦桌) culture. 🤩

Aysanabee 感性分享，去年訪問台灣並結識了「南王姊妹花」等在地音樂人。他驚訝地發現，台灣與加拿大雖然相隔萬里，卻共享著極其相似的歷史軌跡——從過去不被允許使用自己的母語、提及自己的族名，到如今，兩地的原住民終於能夠驕傲地用自己的語言，大聲說出屬於自己的故事。這段從壓迫走向覺醒的非凡歷程，超越了國界，成為台加兩地原民文化最深刻的共鳴。

今年更是把最「台味 」的「辦桌」文化重現，大家在來湖邊享用道地台灣總鋪師菜餚，完美把台灣的熱鬧與人情味，搬到多倫多湖濱！😋

Vice President Oilouch accompanied the delegation to Belau National Hospital, where Taiwan's Shin Kong Hospital medical team highlighted the steady progress of our joint healthcare programs.

外交部首度邀請駐台使節參與 #中元普渡 祈福儀式｜MOFA celebrates the alongside Taiwan’s diplomatic community!🏮

On August 26, MOFA hosted a special Ghost Festival ceremony, bringing together diplomats from 24 countries for a unique cultural exchange.

The offering tables had a global twist this year:
✅Traditional Taiwanese: Fresh flowers, fruits, and classic offerings.
✅Global Favorites: US beer, Canadian maple syrup, plus famous snacks from Japan, South Korea, and the Philippines!

To wrap up the celebration, Minister Lin presented envoys with green ＃KuaiKuai packages featuring auspicious messages like "I'm Super Lucky"—bringing a little extra Taiwanese good luck to our partners around the world! 🥰

The has signed a Memorandum of Understanding on the “Lviv Municipal Hospital Smart Healthcare Enhancement Project” with the Lviv City Government of , the First Medical Union of , and the UNBROKEN Foundation, officially launching bilateral cooperation in smart healthcare!

Leveraging Taiwan’s strengths in information and communications technology as well as medical science and technology, the project will help strengthen smart healthcare applications in the emergency departments and intensive care units of Lviv’s municipal hospitals. It is expected to benefit approximately 720,000 local residents and enhance the quality of medical services as well as the resilience of the healthcare system.

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Wu Chih-chung emphasized that Taiwan will continue to stand with like-minded partners and support the people of Ukraine in rebuilding their homeland through concrete actions. This is not merely a technical exchange, but an alliance of shared values and convictions, fully embodying the spirit of “Taiwan Can Help, Partner Country Can Lead”! 💙💛

Minister of Foreign Affairs Lin Chia-lung will lead a delegation to our diplomatic ally, the Republic of Palau, from August 27 to September 3 for a series of regional diplomatic exchanges!

🇹🇼 continues to showcase its strengths in sustainable partnership across digital resilience, green energy, climate change adaptation, smart healthcare, and infrastructure. Through key high-level dialogues, the delegation will stand shoulder-to-shoulder with our Pacific allies and like-minded partners.

Major milestone for Indigenous cultural heritage! The Preparatory Office of the National Indigenous Museum & NTU's Digital Humanities Center have officially launched the Taiwan Indigenous Digital Repository ( )!

TIDR connects cultural artifacts scattered across global museums into one cross-national digital platform—empowering Indigenous communities to access, explore, and reclaim their knowledge systems.

🔹 Inter-Institutional Integration: Connecting scattered data from domestic and international museums, research institutions, and local cultural centers to establish a unified, one-stop search platform.

🔹 Digital Repatriation: Bringing Taiwanese Indigenous artifacts and historical records previously taken overseas back to Taiwan and their respective communities through digitization.

TIDR典藏庫將逐步整合散藏於海內外不同博物館與研究機構的臺灣原住民族相關資料，建構跨國、跨館舍的數位典藏平臺，讓散落世界各地的文化資料，重新進入族人得以近用、理解與參與詮釋的知識脈絡。
