Artist Statement:
Hello Esquimalt! I am a proud member of this vibrant community, living right down the street in the best place I’ve ever lived for these past 5 years. I’m excited to share my work in such a beautiful space. My work explores the emotional impact of colour. Influenced by a background in visual design, I approach composition with clarity and restraint, using bold palettes and simplified forms to create work that feels both intentional and instinctive.

Rooted in a mid-century sensibility, my paintings draw on familiar colour relationships and graphic language to evoke a sense of nostalgia, then push them to a heightened intensity. The result is a visual experience that feels like a punch to the senses - simultaneously magnetic, jarring, and unexpectedly calming.
Resin is central to this process. It is a demanding and unpredictable medium that resists control, amplifying both colour and surface to an almost unreal level of gloss. I am drawn to its challenges; each piece becomes a negotiation between precision and surrender.
I am interested in the duality of colour—its ability to be both serene and overwhelming—and how that tension can create a visceral, almost immediate emotional response.

Please reach out to me for discussion on any of these pieces through email or my website form and use the QR
codes provided to go straight to each piece.

Happy National Volunteer Week!

The theme for this year is "Ignite Volunteerism". This theme celebrates the power of individual and collective action to spark change, strengthen communities, and rebuild volunteer infrastructure. It highlights how volunteers "ignite" meaningful, lasting, and positive transformation in Canadian society.

In 2014, the TCAC was formed by a group of Esquimalt residents who wanted to bring arts and culture events to Esquimalt. This upstart gang blazed out of the starting gate with almost nothing but a small financial grant from the Township, lots of energy and a group of enthusiastic volunteers. Now in our thirteenth season, we are still going strong!

We at the TCAC would like to thank all of our volunteers - past, present and future - who help to produce our fun community events. Whether you volunteer by helping to hang pictures at Gallery Splash!, serve on the Board of Directors, or put up the tents at Memorial Park Music Fest, know that your efforts really do make a positive contribution to our Esquimalt community!

In February, we celebrated all of our volunteers with an Appreciation Event. The Karpes Family Band entertained over 40 of our volunteers at this evening event at Workpoint. Here are just a few pictures!

Thank you to all of our fabulous volunteers!

This Friday, Saturday and Sunday is Sculpture Splash! at the Pavilion at Gorge Park. There are over 40 artists participating this year. Watch CHEK News tonight for a sneak preview!

SCULPTURE SPLASH!, the region's premier sculptural extravaganza, show and sale runs April 17 - 19, 2026, at the beautiful Gorge Park Pavilion. Township Community Arts Council (TCAC) has collaborated once again with the Vancouver Island Sculptors Guild (VISG), to bring inspiring 3-D works of over 40 sculptors to Esquimalt's gem of a building, with room enough for the art show, sculpting demonstrations and presentations. The event, also sponsored by the BC Arts Council and the Township of Esquimalt, is free to the public. Open daily, 11am - 5pm. Please visit the VISGs website at sculpt.ca for further details.
