Volunteer as an individual, corporate team or as part of a group and help ensure that every child who needs a mentor will have a mentor.

As Canada's leading child and youth mentoring charity, Big Brothers Big Sisters facilitates life-changing relationships that inspire and empower children and youth to reach their potential, both as individuals and citizens. Serving as role models, our mentors teach by example the importance of giving and giving back, of staying in school, and of having respect for family, peers and community. Each time we pair a child with a mentor or introduce a group of students to an in-school program, we start something incredible – a life-changing relationship built on friendship, trust and empowerment.

💙 This BBBS Month, we’re celebrating the people who show up for young people.

We’re looking for caring community members to join us as mentors for our school-based programs!

💜 Go Girls – help girls build confidence, develop healthy relationships and discover their strengths.

🎮 Game On – help boys explore healthy choices, build positive relationships and develop confidence.

🏫 In-School Mentoring – become a positive role model and support a young person through a meaningful mentoring relationship.

You don’t have to have all the answers. You just need to show up, listen and be there.

🤝 The power of mentoring goes beyond one conversation, one activity, or one afternoon together.

A mentor can provide encouragement, a listening ear, a new perspective, and someone to cheer a young person on.

It’s about building a relationship where a young person knows: “Someone believes in me.” 💙

World Su***de Prevention Day is observed annually on September 10th to raise awareness that su***de is preventable and to remind one another that no one has to face difficult moments alone.

Let’s continue to break down the stigma surrounding mental health, create safe spaces, and encourage people to reach out when they need support. Asking for help is a sign of strength, not weakness. Support is always available.

Today, we also remember and honour those we have lost to su***de. Their lives mattered, their stories matter, and they are not forgotten.
