Take this 5-minute survey!

Your feedback will help us plan for things like business support programs, infrastructure, services and future economic development across Waterloo Region.

https://www.regionofwaterloo.ca/WorkplaceCount

The Region of Waterloo, in collaboration with Area Municipalities and the Waterloo Economic Development Corporation (Waterloo EDC), has launched the 2026 Workplace Count from May until September 2026. This survey of businesses across the region takes place every two years, collecting important information about the local economy that is not captured in the Canadian Census.

The collected information helps the Region and its partners to better understand the current local economy including jobs, business activity and changes in the economy. This information supports planning for business growth, business support and other community needs.

The Region of Waterloo reports these survey results as aggregated totals. No individual person or business will be identified. The results of the survey will be shared publicly in early 2027.

There is also a separate survey for rural on-farm, non-agricultural businesses. This survey is for businesses located on farms in Waterloo Region that are not mainly focused on growing crops or raising animals. More information about the rural survey is available at www.regionofwaterloo.ca/WorkplaceCount.

Businesses can learn more about Workplace Count 2026 and complete the survey online at www.engagewr.ca/WorkplaceCount or www.regionofwaterloo.ca/WorkplaceCount. Printed copies of the survey can also be picked up and dropped off at local Town Halls and Region of Waterloo Library branches. Businesses that complete the survey by September 1, 2026, will be entered into a draw to win one of ten $100 gift cards to local businesses.
