90 years of kids helping kids stay safe! 🚸💛

For nine decades, Manitoba’s CAA School Safety Patrol program has been building safer school communities, and generations of young leaders.

Thank you to CAA, and every police officer, teacher and patrol supervisor who make this program possible! But most of all, today we thank and celebrate the incredible patrollers, past, present and future, who put on the patrol vest and step up for their classmates and their community every day.

Today’s patrols. Tomorrow’s leaders. Happy 90th! 🎉

Heartbroken by the loss of the great, the kind, the generous Derek Dabee.

Derek cared deeply about his community and was a tireless champion for public education. As a longtime school trustee and advocate, he believed deeply in our kids, our educators and the power of public schools.

His kindness and compassion, his smile and his service will leave a lasting legacy in Seven Oaks, Manitoba and beyond.

Sending love to his family, friends and all who knew him. We will miss you, Derek. 🧡

Keeping our kids safe.

There’s no reason a conversation between a teacher and a student should be hidden from parents or school leaders. Today I issued a directive banning one-to-one online communication between teachers and students.

This protects our children and arms them with the knowledge to understand what is appropriate communication.

Congrats to Joelle, and the many incredible teacher candidates honoured at the University of Winnipeg’s Pinning Ceremony this week! 🍎

Teachers shape Manitoba’s future, creating schools where every child feels safe, happy, healthy and supported. We lift up these teacher candidates as they take on this important work!

Our government is proud to work alongside partners like the Manitoba Teachers’ Society to support the people who do this important work, and to make sure all teachers feel valued, respected and heard.

The future of Manitoba is in good hands. 🧡

Today at Sioux Valley Dakota Nation, we honoured the Survivors of the Brandon Residential School — their strength, their stories, their families — and the many children who never made it home.

My deepest gratitude to Chief Jennifer Bone and the community for welcoming us into this sacred space of ceremony and remembrance.

Today and always, we honour Survivors, we honour the children. And we commit to carry their truths forward. 🧡
