This morning, I joined G7 education ministers virtually for an important conversation hosted by France on protecting youth from online harm. Manitoba had much to share about our leading role on this issue within Canada, and Canada’s leading role amongst our G7 partners.
As social media and A.I. chatbots continue to shape the world our young people are growing up in, it’s important to recognize that every day, it’s Manitoba teachers that are helping students build the critical thinking skills they need to navigate online spaces safely — understanding the risks, asking questions, spotting misinformation, and learning how to protect their wellbeing.
Education has a vital role to play in helping young people make sense of a rapidly changing digital world. I’m grateful to our teachers for the care, knowledge, and leadership they bring to this work every single day.
Protecting kids online takes all of us — families, educators, governments, and communities working together, for our kids, for One Manitoba.
