❤️ 495 pairs of shoes and counting!

Today, we’re celebrating the incredible generosity of our Winnipeg community, Reiker Canada and Fairmont Winnipeg!

Through the Quarks Cares Footwear Collection Program, Siloam Mission has received an amazing 495 pairs of gently used shoes to support people experiencing homelessness and poverty in our community.

A good pair of shoes means comfort, protection, and the dignity of having something that fits and feels good.

And the collection continues! 👟

If you’re heading to a Winnipeg Goldeyes home game at Blue Cross Park this weekend, you can drop off your gently used shoes at the Quarks Cares collection bins located at Gates 1, 2, and 3, as well as in the main foyer by the elevator.

You can also drop off gently used footwear at any Quarks or Urban Trail location in Winnipeg.

To everyone who has already donated, thank you! Together, every step brings more comfort, dignity, and hope. ❤️

A HUGE thank you to our amazing friends at City Park Runners and everyone who joined in to support the Siloam Mission community! 💙

Together, they collected and donated more than 4,000 bottles of water! 💧🙌🏽 It was wonderful to see so many people come together, have fun and give back through this incredible water drive.

During the hot summer months, access to water is especially important for people experiencing homelessness and poverty. Every bottle helps our community members stay hydrated and safe when temperatures rise.

City Park Runners, THANK YOU for the water, the energy and the incredible spirit of generosity! ❤️

Every stitch tells a story. Every prayer carries hope.
Recently, our Community Wellness team came together to handcraft traditional medicine bags for the incredible team at Sara Riel Inc.

Each medicine bag was created with care, prayer, and intention. The bags were made from red cloth, symbolizing the earth, blood, the sun, vitality, and warmth. The ribbons feature the colours of the Medicine Wheel, representing wholeness, balance, and the interconnectedness of all life. Inside each bag are sacred medicines — to***co, cedar, and sage — along with a shell for smudging and matches.

For many Indigenous Peoples, smudging is a sacred ceremony that uses the smoke from traditional medicines to cleanse the mind, body, heart, and spirit, offering a moment to reflect, pray, seek balance, and move forward in a good way. While traditions vary from Nation to Nation, the ceremony is rooted in respect, healing, and connection.

The team at Sara Riel shared that these medicine bags are more than wellness tools. They are sacred reminders to care for their own spirits as they walk alongside community members every day. In work that often carries the weight of grief, trauma, and difficult stories, these medicine bags will provide opportunities to pause with intention, release what they are not meant to carry, reconnect with themselves, and restore balance through the practice of smudging.

Their words remind us of something we all need to remember: those who spend their lives caring for others also need space to heal.

Together, we continue building a stronger, healthier, and more compassionate community — one rooted in respect, reconciliation, healing, and hope. ❤️

Meet Dorothy ❤️
"I never imagined things would become this hard."

Those are Dorothy's words.

At 74, she found herself making impossible choices between paying for rent, buying medication, and putting food on the table. At first, Dorothy didn't want to come to Siloam Mission. She believed someone else needed the help more than she did.

But because of caring supporters like you, Dorothy found more than a warm meal – she found a place where she was welcomed with dignity, compassion, and care.

Sadly, Dorothy's story is just one of many. More of our neighbours are facing difficult choices and turning to Siloam Mission for meals, hope, and support when they need it most.

This summer, your kindness can make twice the difference. Thanks to generous anonymous donors, every donation will be matched dollar for dollar, up to $30,000.

A heartfelt thank you to the Canadian Bible Society for their generous donation of more than 200 Bibles. ❤️

As a Christian organization, Siloam Mission is deeply grateful for this meaningful gift. These Bibles will be shared with community members during our morning devotions, held Monday through Friday, offering encouragement, hope, and the life-changing message of God's love to those we serve.

For many, a Bible is more than a book — it is a source of comfort, strength, guidance, and hope during life's most difficult seasons. We are honoured to place these gifts into the hands of people who are seeking peace, healing, and a fresh start.

Thank you, Canadian Bible Society, for partnering with us in caring for the body, mind, and spirit.

Yesterday, we pressed pause — not because the work stopped, but because it was our Staff Appreciation Day. ❤️

We came together to recognize the incredible team that shows up every single day with compassion, love, and resilience. The work we do is not always easy, but our shared commitment to one another and to our community keeps us moving forward.

Whether serving on the front lines or working tirelessly behind the scenes, every staff member plays a vital role in ensuring that people experiencing homelessness and poverty are met with dignity, hope, and care — 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

None of this would have been possible without the support of our sector partners, who stepped alongside us to ensure our community members were cared for and safe while we took time to recharge. Your collaboration reminds us that serving our community is truly a shared effort. Thank you!

To every member of the Siloam family — thank you. Thank you for choosing hope. Thank you for choosing people. And thank you for reminding us that when we stand together, our community is stronger. ❤️
