Bite Back This Summer — Before They Bite You!

Summertime in Manitoba means more time outdoors which brings more exposure to ticks, mosquitoes, and other animals. Protect yourself by:

✔️ Using insect repellent and wearing long sleeves and pants
✔️ Checking for ticks after being outside
✔️ Avoiding contact with wild or unfamiliar animals

Preventing bites can reduce your risk of illness. For more information and prevention tips, visit www.wrha.mb.ca/public-health/bites/

Stay safe while you enjoy the outdoors!

Measles is highly contagious and characterized by a blotchy, red rash. It can cause serious complications like pneumonia and brain swelling (encephalitis).

Immunization is the best way to prevent measles. Talk to your health-care provider or call Health Links – Info Santé (1-888-315-9257) to ensure everyone is up to date. If you are planning to travel with an infant between 6 months and 12 months of age, talk to your health care provider about early measles vaccination.

Unsure if you have received the measles vaccine and want to check your immunization records? Have questions about the vaccine?
👉 Talk to your health-care provider or local public health office or request your records online: https://forms.gov.mb.ca/immunization-update-request/

in Canada, one-third of ATV-related deaths and serious injuries are among children and youth, even though they represent a small portion of all ATV drivers and passengers?

ATVs are powerful vehicles, NOT toys.

✔️ Know the rules in Manitoba
✔️ Always wear a helmet
✔️ Ride with a buddy
✔️ Slow down

While health-care workers are here to care for you when you need it most, we don’t want your spring or summer fun to result in a trip to the emergency department.

National Indigenous History Month is a time to honour the diverse cultures, experiences, and vital contributions of First Nations, Métis, and Inuit peoples. It is also an opportunity to reflect on the ongoing impacts of colonization and how we can take tangible steps toward reconciliation.

Over the month of June, we are reflecting on the past, present, and future contributions of Indigenous people across our health system and on the work being done to improve experiences and outcomes for Indigenous people throughout Manitoba.

By weaving together past, present, and future, we can bring together diverse perspectives and move forward in a good way while honouring the path that brought us here.
