We would like to announce the Online Symposium in the UN on the Abductions Issue, which will take place on Wednesday, 24 June, from 2:30 p.m. to 4:15 p.m. (8:30 p.m. to 10:15 p.m. JST).
The symposium is open to everyone, free of charge, and no reservation is required.

The issue of abductions by North Korea is not a historical event but an ongoing problem, with victims still being denied their freedom and unable to return home, constituting an international challenge that requires immediate resolution.

The symposium will present appeals by the families of victims from Japan and other countries. Experts on the situation concerning North Korea will join to discuss and deepen understanding on ways for the immediate resolution of the abductions issue and its importance for the international community.

🌳 Join us on June 6 at the Kampos Cherry Festival 🍒

The Embassy of Japan will present a unique dessert, created in collaboration with Ms. Radmila Bel and Embassy Chef Mr. Naoya Otsu.
Inspired by Japan’s traditional yōkan, we have created an original version using local Cypriot ingredients!

Yōkan is one of Japan’s oldest and most representative confections known as wagashi. It is made primarily from sweet red bean paste, sugar, and agar (kanten), and is known for its smooth texture, subtle sweetness, and elegant appearance.

We invite you to a tasting of Japan–Cyprus yōkan, served with refreshing cold tea, starting at 11:30 a.m.

See you there! ✨

🍶🎬On 11 May, the Embassy of Japan hosted a small sake-tasting event on the sidelines of the screening of the film Wheel of Fortune and Fantasy at Pantheon Theatre.

We offered six types of sake, each from a different region of Japan, along with pamphlets and brochures introducing sake breweries, the sake production process, and ways to enjoy sake.

Many people came to experience the unique flavours and compare the different aromas of sake. We hope you had a short but enjoyable moment before the film screening!
