In case you missed it... On Wednesday, June 10 the sirens will sound. There's no danger and there's nothing to worry about; it's just routine testing to make sure everything works as it should.

This nationwide test of the emergency notification system will take place between 15:00 and 15:10 on 10.06. The siren network will be activated, app notifications will be sent, and banner text will be shown on ERR channels. The Rescue Board will send a reminder via SMS shortly before it starts so you're not startled by the siren sound.

Please, share this with your friends and family so they don't panic.

🚨 Our good partners from Estonian Migration Advice remind about NEW RULES FOR CHANGING EMPLOYER in Estonia with a residence permit for employment

In many cases, YOU NO LONGER NEED TO APPLY FOR A NEW RESIDENCE PERMIT when changing jobs.

Your new employer must submit:
• an application for registering the job change;
• permission from the Estonian Unemployment Insurance Fund (if required);
• a copy of your passport data page.
📌 The new employer must also meet the salary requirement valid at the time of submitting the application.
📌 You may start working for the new employer only after your employer has received a positive decision from the Police and Border Guard Board.

The application is usually processed within 30 days.

Permission from the Estonian Unemployment Insurance Fund is not required:
• if you change position within the same company;
• or if you have already lived and worked in Estonia for at least 12 continuous months with the same residence permit for employment before changing employer.

Always make sure you continue meeting the conditions of your residence permit.

Please follow our friends from Estonian Migration Advice to stay updated on the topics connected to the residence permits.

🫧🚰Discover Estonia’s waters – and be part of protecting them!

Did you know that Estonia has thousands of lakes, rivers, and streams—but only a small part of them are regularly monitored? That’s why everyone’s help matters! In fact, official monitoring covers only about 3% of lakes and 14% of rivers, so citizen observations are extremely valuable.

👉 With the platform veestik.info, you can easily join water observation (even without prior experience!) and contribute to science and environmental protection.

✨ Why join?

🔵 Help protect Estonia’s nature and drinking water
🔵 Support scientists with real-life data
🔵 Raise awareness about environmental changes
🔵 Become part of a community of volunteers of Veestik.info

📱 How to get started?

1️⃣ First, register as an observer on the website
2️⃣ Find a waterbody on the map
3️⃣ Add your observation (description, photo, or simple details)
4️⃣ That’s it – even a small contribution makes a difference!

💡 You don’t need to be an expert—anyone can participate, and most observations can be done with just your phone.

👉 The platform is also available in English, so it’s easy to use if Estonian is not your first language.

🙌 Whether you are new in Estonia or have lived here for years, this is a great way to explore nature, learn something new, and contribute to your community.

🌱 Let’s protect Estonia’s waters together – one observation at a time!

📢 Your voice matters — help improve support for migrant women in Estonia

Are you a woman with a migration background living in Estonia?
We want to hear from you.

Our good partners Balti Uuringute Instituut together with International House of Tartu are launching a study to better understand:

🔘What kinds of intimate partner violence migrant women may face
🔘What support is truly needed
🔘How services can be improved and made more accessible

💔 Violence against women is still a serious issue across Estonia and Europe — but the experiences of migrant women are often overlooked. Language barriers, legal status, financial challenges, and limited support networks can make things even harder.
👉 That’s why your experience and perspective are so important.
