We've had lots of exciting new books arrive this morning! 🤩

Calling families with babies, toddlers and young children!

Can you help us create new publicity photographs for Hertfordshire Libraries?

We are looking for families with babies, toddlers and young children (up to age 7) to join us on the afternoon of Wednesday 16 September for a special photography session at Hitchin Library. These photos will be used to showcase Hertfordshire Libraries and all the amazing things you can enjoy including book sharing, family activities, Baby Rhyme Time and Storytime.

Throughout the afternoon, we will be hosting special Baby Rhyme Time and Storytime sessions where we will capture photographs of children and families enjoying these activities together. Please note that these activities will be a shortened version of our usual sessions to allow time for photography. This Saturday is the return of our monthly Lego Club! Our theme for this month's session is "Summer Holidays" as we'll be making things inspired by things that we've done during the summer. Join us at 10.30am, this Saturday 5th September, £4.40 per child. Places are limited, so do book in advance to avoid disappointment: https://tinyurl.com/34ckwtwc

Please note this session is suitable for children aged 5+ and children under 8 must be accompanied by an adult. Unfortunately, we can't allow any younger siblings to be in the session, even if they are used to playing with LEGO at home.

Very exciting news from Hitchin Library...

We have officially passed our target of 1000 starters for the Summer Reading Challenge! 🥳😁🤩❤️🥳🎉

This is the first time that we have ever reached this milestone - thank you so much to everyone who has signed up and taken part! Thank you also to all of our amazing volunteers, without whom we could not run the Summer Reading Challenge at the library.

It's still not too late to sign up! If you're worried you won't be able to read 6 books before the end of summer, you can still finish strong by completing reading challenges instead 📚✨

AND you can still collect your finishing prizes if you finish after 5th September. You won't be entered into the prize draw after 5th, but you'll still have a brilliant time enjoying some end-of-summer reading!!

Looking for something creative to do during the summer holidays? Join us for our Read to the Beat Maker Stations here at Hitchin Library! 🎶📚

We will be using our imaginations and getting creative with lots of fun musical themed craft activities, every Monday 2:30-3:30pm and Friday 10:30-11:30am!

Our next session is this afternoon! A free drop-in and suitable for all ages 🎨🎸🎶
