DRESS CODE - WHY IT IS IMPORTANT AT MILLBURN

We are so impressed with the high standard of dress code this term. What a great start back it’s been with almost all pupils looking very smart indeed in school wear.

Why is it important to us? There are several reasons for our high expectations of dress code - detailed below - and we believe the standard set this term bodes well for the weeks and months ahead.

🌟In a school with more than 1200 pupils, for safety reasons, it is essential that all pupils are instantly recognisable as belonging to the Millburn Academy community.

🌟We regard school as a ‘place of work’ and wearing dress code helps to create the right climate and mindset required for learning.

🌟Wearing dress code helps to instil pride, a sense of belonging, a sense of purpose in class and projects and an image in the local community and to visitors to the school.

🌟Dress code items are significantly less expensive than branded items of clothing and help to reduce the cost of the school day.

🌟Dress code removes the stigma attached to not wearing more expensive branded items and helps reduce peer-pressure.

Thank you to parents/carers for all that you do in support of our daily expectations of dress code.

WHOLE SCHOOL PHOTOGRAPH

Thanks to all of our pupils who were an absolute delight to work with this morning as we configured ourselves into year groups - by height - for the whole school photograph.

Attendance was excellent and dress code standards were exemplary.

The timelapse piece gives a taste of the organisation involved and we look forward to receiving the final image from Tempest, the school photographers.

Well done, Millburn! 👍👏👌🥳

ASSEMBLIES FOR ALL YEAR GROUPS NEXT WEEK

Next week there will be year group assemblies for all pupils where we will outline our shared expectations for the year ahead and discuss the values, attitudes and habits that contribute to success.

A key focus will be the importance of regular school attendance. Every day in school matters, and even occasional absences can have an impact on learning, progress and wellbeing. We
appreciate your continued support in encouraging excellent attendance, with our
aim being for all young people to achieve
attendance of 90% or above.

If you have any concerns regarding attendance or would benefit from additional support, please contact your child's Guidance Teacher, who will be pleased to assist.

💥S1 assembly in the hall on Monday at 0840.
