🚨 IMPORTANT SWIMMER UPDATE 🚨

Unfortunately, Brockwell Lido (pool) will not be able to open as planned this morning.

Our team is working hard to rectify the situation and get the pool open as soon as possible.

The pool has dropped to 18.9°C, which is considerably cooler than we’ve been used to recently!

🏊 General swimming is still running after school, but we recommend suitable swimwear for younger swimmers, such as a wetsuit or additional layers, to help keep them comfortable in the cooler water.

As we head towards autumn and deeper into winter, our opening hours and sessions are changing with the seasons.

📅 This week at Brockwell Lido:
🕡 Pool open 06:30–19:30
🏊 Continuous swimming — no midday closure period
👤 Lane swimming is 16+ (18+ when the water drops below 15°C)
👨‍👩‍👧 Kids swimming is available 09:00–11:00 & 16:00–18:00

Please keep an eye on our weekly opening times, as closing times will now change each week as daylight hours get shorter 🌅

As we head into September, the days are getting shorter and we’re starting to lose daylight — so our pool closing time will gradually move earlier throughout the month.

Please check the September timetable before planning your swim, as opening hours will change weekly.

❄️🏊‍♀️ Thinking about trying cold water swimming? Start now. 🏊‍♀️❄️

With our winter season starting on the 1st October, now is the perfect time to gradually introduce yourself to colder water while temperatures are still relatively manageable.

Rather than waiting for a sudden drop in temperatures, give your body time to adjust and build your confidence in the water gradually.🧊

If you’re new to cold water swimming:
🌊 Take it slowly and listen to your body
⏱️ Keep your swims short to begin with
🧣 Have warm, dry clothes ready for afterwards
🤝 Swim with others for moral support
🛟 Always follow lifeguard instructions and stay within your ability

The water will get colder, but you don’t have to wait until it does to start preparing!

🌦️ The end of summer is definitely starting to show… 🌦️

We’ve got a week of on-and-off rain ahead, but that won’t stop us! (Some of us)🏊‍♀️

Our general swimming sessions for all ages will continue until mid-September, but with cooler air temperatures and less sunshine, we’d recommend that under-8s sit this one out for now. Little ones can feel the cold much quicker, especially when the sun isn’t out to warm things up.

For everyone else, embrace the British summer and we’ll see you poolside! 🌧️🏊‍♀️
