Warwick Way and the streets around Tachbrook get their share, and an abandoned hire bike is no small thing if you use a frame or push a buggy.

The council reported to Full Council on 16 September that it has lifted about 700 bikes for dangerous parking since April and recovered a quarter of a million pounds from the firms behind them.

Local councillors Jim, Ed and Mohamed keep raising the ones that pile up by the market and outside the station.

🏆 Nine categories are open in this year's ActiveWestminster Awards, and every one of them is asking the same question: who does the work that nobody gets paid for?

The council runs the awards. Nominating takes a couple of minutes and you do not need permission from the person you are putting forward.

Club or Coach of the Year covers the obvious ones. Unsung Hero covers the person who has been doing it quietly for a decade around Tachbrook and Warwick Way without anyone writing it down.

Local councillors Jim, Ed and Mohamed hear those names all the time. This is the week to make one of them official.

Midnight on Monday 28 September is the cut-off.

New options are being considered for the future of the Pimlico District Heat Undertaking, the 70 year old communal heating network, believed to be the oldest of its kind in the UK, that supplies heating and hot water to more than 3,000 homes and businesses.

Westminster City Council leader Cllr Paul Swaddle has called on the government for financial help to replace the ageing system, saying "the current proposed costs are way too high for local residents." Under the previous Labour administration, some residents were shown estimates suggesting leaseholders of four bedroom flats could be asked to pay more than £66,000 for refurbishment, figures the council says were estimates only.

The council is now reviewing alternatives including air source heat pumps and individual boilers, with findings due to go to a Policy and Scrutiny Task Group in the coming months. Residents' campaign group Pimlico Unites has welcomed the shift.
