🥋 In Memory of Sensei Eric Pich 🥋
Sensei Eric Pich was a much-loved gentleman and hugely respected part of the Willesden Sports Centre family. His influence reached far beyond the dojo, touching the lives of generations of students, instructors and families.
Eric began his karate journey in 1973 and founded Kilburn Shotokan Karate Club on 14 January 1981, opening his first dojo on Granville Road in Kilburn. From those early beginnings, the club grew across north and west London and became a prominent name in British Shotokan karate.
An 8th Dan instructor, Eric dedicated more than five decades to the sport. He also served as Chief Instructor at Cambridge University for 18 years and coached at Oxford University, leaving behind an incredible legacy throughout England.
Eric sadly passed away on 9 June 2026, but the values, knowledge and passion he shared will continue through the many lives he influenced.
Following his funeral, nearly £12,000 was generously donated to the hospice in his memory. This Sunday, the club came together again at Willesden Sports Centre for a very special memorial event in his honour, raising a further £1,630 for the hospice.
A phenomenal achievement and a wonderful tribute to a remarkable man who will always remain part of the Willesden Sports Centre family.
Rest in peace, Sensei Eric. Your legacy lives on. ❤️🥋
