Perth and Kinross Climate Action

02/10/2026

On day 5 of Climate Week we are sharing one of the many fantastic projects of Remake Scotland

Their recent Repair Fest brought the community together to learn new skills, repair treasured belongings and rethink our relationship with waste. Hosted at Strathearn Community Campus, the event demonstrated the power of repair, reuse and community action.

📊 Project Impact

55 people attended the event.
31 items were brought in for repair.
27 items were successfully repaired, giving them a new lease of life and preventing unnecessary waste.
15 community volunteers contributed their time and expertise.
3 community partners helped make the event a success.

From textile repairs and Dr Bike sessions to tool sharpening, e-waste advice and creative junk modelling, attendees embraced the opportunity to learn, share skills and take practical climate action.

One attendee shared that the event helped them better understand the impact of the textile industry and inspired them to think differently about throw-away culture, while also leaving with a repaired sewing machine and new repair skills.

♻️ Fix it, don't ditch it!

On day 4 of Climate Week, we wanted to throw a light on the Green Living Fund recipients who used their grant to upgrade their pitch lighting. 💡⚡

The project has made a big difference to their facilities, particularly the training areas, and they are already seeing the benefits of the improved lighting. They are also looking forward to the longer-term benefits of reduced electricity consumption and lower running costs!

To kick off Climate Week 2026 we wanted to share a fantastic project taking place in Perth:

🌱 Growing More Than Food

What started as a simple idea has become something much bigger.

With support from the Green Living Fund, UHI Perth transformed a piece of their campus into a productive growing space, with a goal of producing fresh food for students and community while supporting climate action and tackling cost-of-living challenges.

Along the way, they've grown potatoes, lettuces, beetroot and much more. But the real achievement is creating a sustainable project that continues to deliver benefits year after year.

🤝 Community Benefit
♻️ Long-Term Value

This was never a one-year project. It's about continuing the cycle:

Grow → Harvest → Give → Repeat 🌱🥕❤️♻️
