⏰ Reminder: Applications for the Perth and Kinross Warm Welcome Fund 2026/2027 close this week.

The fund supports community organisations across Perth and Kinross to provide warm, welcoming spaces, activities and support for local people during the winter months.

Eligible applicants include sports clubs, voluntary and community organisations, registered charities, constituted groups, community interest companies and other not-for-profit organisations.

A826 Calliacher drainage works starting 19 October 🚧

Essential drainage works will take place on the A826 between Calliacher Wind Farm and Scotston from Monday 19 October. The works are expected to take around seven working days, weather permitting.

Temporary traffic lights will be in place throughout the works. Between 8am and 4pm, Monday to Friday, a 10mph convoy system will operate through the work site. Temporary traffic lights will remain in place overnight and at weekends for site safety.

Access for emergency service vehicles and pedestrians will be maintained.

We know these works may cause some delays and thank road users for their patience while they are carried out.

The Local Housing Strategy (LHS) for Perth and Kinross is being updated, and we want you to tell us your thoughts on housing in the area.

The LHS sets out how we and our partners will address housing issues and demand in our area over the next five years. Our LHS for 2022 to 2027 is coming to an end, and so a new strategy is now being drafted.

The new LHS will set out our vision for housing across Perth and Kinross from 2028 to 2032, including the key priorities and actions that will help shape housing services over the coming years.

We want to make sure the strategy reflects the needs and views of local people and communities, so we're inviting you to share your thoughts on the housing issues that matter most to you.

Scottish Water recently carried out an emergency sewer repair in the Bowerswell Road area of Perth. Subsequent investigations have identified that a larger section of the ageing sewer network than first thought now requires replacement, with around 220 metres of sewer needing to be renewed.

As a result, Scottish Water will now carry out additional excavation work along Bowerswell Road to ensure a long-term solution for the network.

To allow this work to be carried out safely, some changes to traffic management will be introduced from tomorrow, Monday 12 October. This includes the temporary closure of access to Duplin Terrace from Bowerswell Road. Signage and diversions will be in place.

Over the coming week, Scottish Water will undertake further surveys, excavate trial holes to identify existing underground utilities and begin installing the new sewer pipework.

Are you a Perth and Kinross school pupil with an official golf handicap and CDH number? Why not take part in the Perth and Kinross Schools Golf Championship at North Inch Golf Course on Friday 23 October, with tee times from 9am.

The competition is open to all eligible Perth and Kinross school pupils and will include both scratch and handicap divisions.

Entry to the competition is free of charge. The event will feature both scratch and handicap competitions, providing opportunities for golfers of varying abilities to compete.

For the purposes of the competition, the maximum playing handicap is 36. However, pupils with a handicap index higher than 36 are still welcome to enter.

The event is proudly supported by Perth and Kinross Council and Provost Xander McDade.

We look forward to welcoming the next generation of golfers to the Inch Golf Course.
