A reminder that from tomorrow, Tuesday 1st September, until Wednesday 9th September 2026, our Flooding team will be carrying out CCTV surveys on surface water drains in Blairgowrie town centre.

The survey works will cover a section of the A93 Wellmeadow from Lower Mill Street down to the junction at Blairgowrie Bridge, as well as Allan Street and Upper Allan Street. Temporary closures will be required on these streets for the duration of the works, with road signs indicating the diversion routes in place. Please see the diversion routes maps below. We aim to limit the road closures to the time required for the surveying to minimise disruption to residents and motorists. Dependent on progress of these works, the streets involved may not need to be closed for the full eight-day period.

Additionally, the survey works will be paused, and traffic management lifted, between the evening of Friday 4th and Sunday 6th September to allow the annual Braemar Night weekend in Blairgowrie to take place as normal. The survey works and traffic management arrangements will resume on Monday 7th September.

Repair. Reuse. Reduce.

It's a simple reminder that there are lots of ways to keep textiles in circulation for longer, whether that's repairing a favourite item, passing it on, donating it, or giving it a new home.

Before throwing textiles away, could they be repaired? A simple stitch, replacement button or zip can help clothes stay in use for longer. When repair isn't practical, donating, passing items on or buying second-hand are great ways to keep textiles out of the bin.

Thank you to everyone for your patience and understanding as we have introduced changes to the Viewlands School Exclusion Zone over the past two weeks.

The updated arrangements are designed to improve safety for pupils, pedestrians and all road users around the campus. We have already received positive feedback from pedestrians and local residents who have experienced benefits from the changes.

We also recognise that some concerns have been raised about traffic pinch points in surrounding areas. These comments are being considered carefully as we look at how best to address the issues that have been highlighted.

As a reminder, from Tuesday 1 September, the zone can be legally enforced by Police Scotland. All roads leading into the School Exclusion Zone have a 20mph speed limit and drivers should take extra care, particularly during school drop-off and pick-up times.

💜Tonight, Perth Bridge and St Paul's Church will be illuminated in purple to mark International Overdose Awareness Day.

This year's theme, "25 Years On. Still Needed.", recognises that while International Overdose Awareness Day has brought people together for 25 years to remember those lost to overdose and take action to save lives, there is still more work to be done.

Overdose continues to affect individuals, families and communities, but lives can be saved through understanding, support and reducing stigma. Today is an opportunity to remember those we have lost, support those affected, and recognise the importance of creating a community where people feel able to seek help without fear of judgement.

A reminder that everyone is welcome at today's International Overdose Awareness Day event at Perth Civic Hall, 2 High Street, Perth, from 11am to 3pm. The event provides an opportunity to remember those who have lost their lives to overdose, support those affected, and raise awareness to help reduce overdose deaths in the future.

Interested in Perthshire's rich mapping history?

Friends of Perth and Kinross Archive are hosting a fascinating talk at the AK Bell Library by map historian John Moore.

Using historic estate maps from Perthshire and Kinross created before the Ordnance Survey, John will explore how our local landscape was recorded and mapped, and the challenges of uncovering and preserving these important historical records.

With more than 40 years of experience researching the history of maps in Scotland, John brings a wealth of knowledge to this engaging talk.

The talk takes place at 6.30pm on Thursday 17 September at the AK Bell Library. Please enter via the Soutar Theatre entrance on the west side of the library.

Tickets cost £6 full price and £3.50 for concessions, and are free for members of the Friends of Perth & Kinross Archive.

Visitor Levy Consultation | Thursday 3 September | Perth drop-in event

Residents, businesses, community groups and visitors are invited to take part in the statutory consultation on the proposed Draft Visitor Levy Scheme.

If approved, the Visitor Levy could generate an estimated £8 million each year to invest in areas where tourism plays a significant part in people's lives.

Our first drop-in event will take place in Perth:

4pm to 7pm

The gates may remain closed into next week depending on weather forecasts, tide heights and river levels.

The yellow weather warning is in place from 11am today until 9pm tonight.

🌿 Nature Based Solutions and Landscape Scale Action in Tayside Conference

As part of Nature Based Solutions Week 2026, Climate Ready Tayside is hosting a free event exploring how nature-based solutions are helping to create a more climate-ready Tayside.
