Last month, we were lucky enough to be invited to a Play on the Pitch event at Rotherham United’s New York Stadium⚽

We had the chance to go into the changing rooms, walk down the tunnel, and even play on the pitch in front of family and friends – a truly unforgettable experience!

Everyone who took part had a fantastic evening. Keep an eye out… we might have some new Shared Lives signings this summer🤩

Welcome to June!🌺

June brings lighter days, (hopefully!) a bit of sunshine and plenty of opportunities to connect, smile, and spend time together☀️

This month we’re celebrating everything that makes Shared Lives so special – community, kindness and the incredible people who make it what it is✨

We’re counting down to Shared Lives Week (Monday 15 June to Friday 19 June) and hope to see you all at our Thrybergh event on Wednesday 17 June!

We’re looking forward to catching up, sharing moments, and enjoying some wellbeing time together along the way.

Shared Storytime📖

This month we hear from Chloe.

Chloe has been helping out at the Rotherham Minster coffee morning☕

Chloe said she absolutely loved it and is already keen to go back again! Everyone praised her hard work and said she was a great help to the team.

She even got to count up the takings!

Well done, Chloe – a fantastic job!🥰

The Catch Up Café at Rotherham Minster is open to all every Tuesday from 10am to 12pm

Reminder for Shared Lives Carers!

You can now complete your Self-Assessment tax return for the 2025/2026 tax year💻

As a Shared Lives carer, you’re responsible for completing your return. Getting organised early can make it much less stressful later on!

Your 2025/2026 tax return must be submitted by Sunday 31 January 2027.

If you need advice or guidance, please get in touch or speak to HMRC.

Don’t leave it to the last minute🕐

Here at Shared Lives Rotherham we are getting excited about National Shared Lives Week which runs from the 15 to 19 June.

As part of the weeklong celebrations, we’re heading out for a gentle walk around Thrybergh Country Park, perfect if you fancy getting some fresh air, a few steps in, and a relaxed catch up🌳

After the walk, you’re very welcome to join us at Thrybergh Parish Hall, where we’ll be enjoying a relaxed get together with refreshments☕

If you would like to join us, we will be meeting at Thrybergh Country Park on Wednesday 17 June at 10:30am for our walk, and at 11:30am we will be meeting at Thrybergh Parish Hall, 55 Park Lane, Thrybergh, S65 4BP.

We’d love to see you there for a friendly catch up and some wellbeing time together💙

A huge well done to Catherine!✨

Recently, Catherine, one of our Rotherham Shared Lives Ambassadors, had the fantastic opportunity to work as a Heritage Producer as part of Rotherham’s Children’s Capital of Culture.

Catherine took responsibility for the Brinsworth ward, with a special focus on raising awareness of disability. Over the course of the project, she interviewed 20 people, capturing their memories of Brinsworth alongside powerful reflections on disability. These recorded interviews will be preserved in the Rotherham archives, ensuring these important stories are remembered and shared for years to come📚

As part of the project, Catherine also organised an exhibition at The Centre in Brinsworth. She created a wonderful Wall of Inclusion, bringing together creative expressions from local artists and poets, along with written pieces that celebrated diversity and inclusion within the community🎨

Well done, Catherine, what an incredible achievement and an inspiring piece of work!

The project is now finished and Catherine's work completed but the experience has been very worthwhile for her💛

Shared Lives Plus ambassador Gracie has won a national award at the Frontline Awards 2026.

Gracie, who is supported through Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council Shared Lives, has been recognised for using her voice to support others and create change.

She said: “Winning this award is about advocating for young voices that can feel lost. I want to be a role model and show that even the darkest parts of life can have a brighter side.”

We love seeing what Sally gets up to while enjoying respite with Caroline and Chris😀

Her latest stay was filled with a mix of favourite activities and new experiences. These included completing jigsaws, helping to cook meals, relaxing walks around Greasbrough Dam, watching her very first IMAX film, visits to Wentworth Farm and Elsecar Heritage Centre, trips into Doncaster, and even a spot of bowling!🎳
