There is just a week and a half left to complete this year’s Summer Reading Challenge. Thanks to support from and we are able to give all these goodies* to every child who completes at Boldmere Library, so if your child registered and has finished reading their six library books and filled in their review sheet, please come and see us as soon as possible so they don’t miss out! (* some goodies may vary slightly)

Summer Reading Challenge reviews are coming in thick and fast. If your child has taken part in this year’s Summer Reading Challenge please remember, you still have until 12th of September to complete your challenge and get your medal, certificate and final prize.

If you don’t mind dodging the showers(!) you may enjoy a trip to Birmingham Weekender. Lots of free music, dance and creative events taking place over the next three days in the city centre.

This August bank holiday, the city centre will come alive with colourful installations, exhilarating performances and unforgettable experiences for everyone to enjoy.

“It’s raining, it’s pouring ….. but the library’s never boring!” We have our last craft session of the school holidays this morning, drop in between 11.00-12.30 to make a selection of crafts such as these pictured.
And don’t forget the Summer Reading Challenge finishes on Sat 12th September. We have had 290 children register at Boldmere but 151 children have only returned their first 2 reviews so far so please encourage them to come in and see us today, Sat or next week to ensure they have time to finish.

Someone at our author event last Thursday left their glasses at the craft table, please call into the library this week to collect them.
Also, after a recent delay we have now received lots of reserved books on the van, if you are waiting for books please call in, we’re open Tues/Thurs/Sat 9-1 and 2-5

Many thanks to children’s author Caryl Hart, Author for two fantastic sessions at the library today. Twenty children and their parents got to hear her talk, sing and even do a jellyfish dance! They also made these lovely jellyfish decorations to take home afterwards. Thank you to Royal Sutton Coldfield Town Council and Sutton Coldfield Charitable Trust for supporting our library and enabling us to put on this event.

Please note that as we have a special event this morning, a visit by picture book author Caryl Hart, there will be limited access to the Children's Library from 10.30 - 12.30 and there will be no craft session. We have a few spaces left for the 10.30 author session, please ring us on 0121 464 1048 asap if you would like to book. Also, If you have booked a place for the author event and can no longer make it, please let us know, thank you.

Another 15 children enjoyed colouring in these lovely reptile fridge magnets and gecko window decorations at today’s craft session.

Since the Summer Reading Challenge launched on 4th July, we have had 269 children register to take part at Boldmere Library. Of those, 118 have finished their first two library books and review sheets, 68 have done their first four and 37 have done all six and completed the Challenge! The Challenge finishes on Saturday 12th September so there is still time to take part. Although we encourage three separate visits, if you register this week feel free to borrow all six books at once so you have enough time to complete. On completion children receive lots of goodies including a medal and certificate, a bag and mini recorder.
