ECHOES

Join us for FREE myths storytelling and crafts!

18th July 2026 (15:00 – 16:30) at Ward End Library

With MYTH TODAY & Charis McRoberts

ECHOES is a series of free creative workshops inspired by ancient myths. Families are invited to take part in an afternoon of craft and storytelling exploring tales from across the world. Created in collaboration with writer Charis McRoberts, this workshop is perfect for children aged 6–14 and their grown-ups. A fun and friendly afternoon where we will discover how these tales still resonate with us today. Echoing across time and inspiring news ideas.

This project is supported using public funding by the National Lottery through Arts Council England.

Braidwood Trust School for the Deaf, Hodge Hill College and are proud to present Me - We - Here: a free exhibition of artworks created by Year 9 students, in collaboration with Deaf visual artist and facilitator Maral Mamaghanizadeh.

The exhibition will be at from Saturday 4th - Saturday 18th July (subject to library opening times). Maral has been an artist in residence with the schools since October 2025, as part of China Plate's multi-year co-creation project Neighbourhood Creatives. This project was the first time the students from Braidwood School and Hodge Hill College had met, and the first time the hearing students had engaged with Deaf culture.

Through a series of interactive workshops and trips, Maral explored three simple themes with the students: Me, We, and Here - identity, community, connection - the artworks in the exhibition tell that story. Students were able to experiment with different creative mediums including clay sculpture, painting, drawing and embroidery.
