We've had a fascinating afternoon listening to children's author Sue Palmer talk to us about creatures from the sea shore and read from her book 'The Shell Secret'. We've learned so much; from World War 2 and Cornish pasties to the unique (and horrifying) way a starfish eats. Her book is a must read! S Y Palmer

Our short story competition launches today! We are looking forward to uncovering fresh talent, imaginative stories and unique voices from across the county. The competition provides a fantastic opportunity for locals to turn the page on their writing journey, get their work discovered, and share their stories with library customers across Oxfordshire.

Open to everyone aged 7 and above, the competition features three categories: Children, Young Adult and Adult. If you know any budding authors who have a story waiting to be written, please encourage them to enter!

We're pulling out seven lucky winners for our Summer Reading Challenge goody bags on Tuesday 15th, make sure you finish and get your golden ticket in before the end of the day. You can collect your medal and certificate after the 15th though.

We were intrigued to see two Jersey Tiger moths in the library garden this summer. This Saturday, 12th September, the UK Centre for Ecology and Hydrology will be opening a moth trap for us (weather depending). Drop in between 10am-11.00 if you want to find out what is flying at the moment, a free event for all ages. ~Wild about Wallingford
