A four-day TRANSFORM Leadership and Transformation Learning Package on Shock-Responsive Social Protection (SRSP) has successfully concluded in Koforidua, aimed at strengthening Ghana’s capacity to respond effectively to shocks and protect vulnerable populations.
The training, organised by the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection with support from UNICEF Ghana and Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office, brought together participants from key Ministries, Departments and Agencies, development partners, and civil society.
Over the period, participants engaged in intensive learning and practical sessions focused on building technical knowledge, leadership capacity, and coordination mechanisms required to operationalise the National Shock-Responsive Social Protection Strategy.
Key thematic areas included disaster coordination, climate-related crises, conflict and displacement, as well as leadership in emergency response.
Through interactive and scenario-based exercises, participants enhanced their skills in risk analysis, contingency planning, and the integration of shock-responsive approaches into flagship programmes such as LEAP, the Ghana School Feeding Programme, NHIS exemptions, and Labour-Intensive Public Works.
The initiative forms part of Government’s broader efforts, in collaboration with partners, to strengthen institutional readiness and ensure that Ghana’s social protection system remains adaptive, inclusive, and responsive in times of crisis.
