Invest in Ghana's Tourism, Hospitality and Creative Industries – Hon. Abla Dzifa Gomashie

Hon. Abla Dzifa Gomashie has called on local and international investors to seize Ghana's vast opportunities in tourism, hospitality and the creative industries, underscoring Government's commitment to creating a conducive investment environment.

Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts Ministry Pays Condolence Visit to Family of the Late Sharon Dede Padiki Padi

The Minister for Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Hon. Abla Dzifa Gomashie, together with Deputy Minister Hon. Yussif Issaka Jajah, visited the family of the late Sharon Dede Padiki Padi to express the Ministry's heartfelt condolences following her passing.

Hon. Gomashie paid tribute to Sharon's passion, professionalism, and dedication to advancing Ghana's tourism, culture, and creative arts sector, describing her as a remarkable young professional whose contributions will be deeply missed. Hon. Abla Dzifa Gomashie Leads Ghana to Secure Major Heritage Support at UNESCO Meeting in South Korea 🇬🇭🇰🇷

The Minister for Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Hon. Abla Dzifa Gomashie, successfully led Ghana's delegation to the 48th Session of the UNESCO World Heritage Committee in Busan, South Korea, securing significant international support to strengthen the conservation and management of Ghana's World Heritage sites.

Key outcomes include a **US$3.5 million commitment** from the Korean National Commission for UNESCO to support the restoration of six Forts and Castles, alongside technical training and capacity-building support from international heritage partners. The Minister also joined the graduation of six Ghanaian heritage professionals who completed specialized training in climate-resilient heritage conservation.

Emancipation 2026 Wreath-Laying Ceremony Calls for Unity, Justice and Stronger Diaspora Connections

The Ghana Tourism Authority in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts and its partners commemorated Emancipation Day 2026 with solemn wreath-laying ceremonies at the W.E.B. Du Bois Centre, George Padmore Research Library and Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park under the theme "Reconnecting Roots, Celebrating Freedom, Experience Ghana."

The event honoured Ghana's founding fathers, members of the African diaspora, and the victims of the transatlantic slave trade while reaffirming the nation's commitment to preserving history, promoting Pan-African unity and strengthening diaspora connections.

Speaking on behalf of the Minister for Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Deputy Minister Hon. Yussif Issaka Jajah called for a united and prosperous Africa rooted in the sacrifices of its forebears. Government Strengthens Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts Sector with Handover of Former Ministry of Finance Facility

The Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts has officially taken over the former Ministry of Finance Annex Building in Accra, in a move aimed at strengthening institutional capacity and improving service delivery.

Representing the Minister for Finance, Hon. Thomas Nyarko Ampem, the Deputy Minister for Finance highlighted the strategic importance of the tourism sector and noted that the facility, comprising 97 offices, three conference rooms, furniture and other equipment, was handed over to support the operations of the Ministry and its agencies.

Receiving the facility on behalf of the Minister for Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Hon. Abla Dzifa Gomashie, Deputy Minister Hon. Yussif Issaka Jajah expressed appreciation to the Ministry of Finance, describing the gesture as a significant investment that will enhance the Ministry’s capacity to deliver on its mandate.

He assured that the facility would be properly maintained and utilized to advance Ghana’s tourism, cultural heritage and creative arts agenda.

The transfer forms part of government’s efforts to optimize public assets, strengthen institutions and promote effective collaboration among state agencies.

Ghana Reaffirms Commitment to Transforming Tourism Sector 🇬🇭🌍

The Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts has restated its commitment to transforming Ghana’s tourism sector through stronger collaboration and strategic stakeholder engagement to enhance competitiveness and drive national development.

Delivering remarks on behalf of President John Dramani Mahama, Chief of Staff Dr. Julius Debrah called for stronger collaboration, innovation and compelling storytelling to promote Ghana as a preferred global tourism destination.

Hon. Abla Dzifa Gomashie highlighted the Ministry’s “domestic-first, global-next” strategy and key initiatives aimed at strengthening Ghana’s tourism, culture and creative arts sector, including the Ghana National Cultural Policy, UNESCO Culture|2030 Indicators Programme, Tourism Satellite Account, Afro Gastro Festival, GTM, GTIP and Akwaaba Night initiative.

A major highlight was Ghana’s successful bid to host the 70th Session of the UN Tourism Commission for Africa in 2027, which coincides with the country’s 70th Independence Anniversary celebrations.

Stakeholders pledged renewed collaboration to preserve Ghana’s heritage, attract investment, enhance tourism experiences and position Ghana as a leading tourism and cultural destination in Africa.

📚🇬🇭 Reading Culture Among Ghanaian Youth Must Be Revived – Hon. Abla Dzifa Gomashie

Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts Minister, has called for a national effort to reignite the reading culture among Ghanaian youth, urging parents, schools, publishers and creative industry players to work together to nurture a lifelong love for books.

During a meeting with the Ghana International Book Fair (GIBF) delegation, Hon. Abla Dzifa Gomashie reiterated the Ministry’s support for literacy initiatives and collaboration within the creative sector, describing books as vital tools for education, cultural preservation and creativity while expressing concern over declining reading habits among the youth.

Mr. Ernest Oppong, on behalf of the delegation commended the Ministry’s revised Cultural Policy and highlighted the Ghana International Book Fair’s role in promoting literacy and culture through various educational activities, while noting challenges facing the annual event.
