🇬🇭🌍 Ghana joined fellow African countries on the III Study Visit to the Republic of Korea under the joint leadership of Unesco Ghana and KRIVET to strengthen Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) systems across the continent.
Bringing together delegations from , Côte d’Ivoire, Nigeria, and Sierra Leone, the five-day mission provided a valuable platform for peer learning, policy dialogue, and knowledge exchange focused on agriculture, agribusiness, and future-ready skills development.

Participants engaged in policy seminars, institutional visits, and cooperative agribusiness demonstrations aimed at advancing curriculum innovation, Labour Market Information Systems (LMIS), and stronger industry–school partnerships.

The study visit reinforces Ghana’s commitment to aligning with national development priorities while deepening collaboration with and KRIVET to build inclusive, resilient, and employment-oriented education systems for Africa’s youth.

Unesco Ghana@ was proud to support the Ghana Excellence Awards 2026, held on 14 April, Commission for TVET Ghana partners committed to advancing skills development in Ghana.

The event celebrated outstanding achievements across the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) sector, bringing together stakeholders from government, industry, development partners, and training institutions to promote excellence, innovation, and inclusivity.

Through the BEAR III project, supported two award categories: Best Innovative Trainee and Best Female TVET Student in a Male-Dominated Trade Area. These categories highlight the importance of innovation and gender inclusion in building a future-ready workforce.

also received recognition for its contributions to strengthening systems in Ghana, particularly in capacity building and the National Skills Competition in Agriculture TVET.

Millions of girls and women remain underrepresented in and , with gaps that emerge early in education and limit future opportunities.

Closing the digital gender gap requires transforming education systems through gender-transformative and inclusive approaches. Teachers play a key role in creating learning environments that support girls’ confidence and participation in digital skills.

Unesco Ghana, with 北京师范大学(BNU), INRULED, and the Government of Ghana, is working to strengthen teacher training and advance gender-transformative digital education that empowers girls and supports more inclusive learning systems.

UNESCO calls for investment in inclusive, gender-transformative education so every girl can learn, participate, and thrive in the digital world.

Girls are once again falling behind in mathematics.

Today, more girls are in school than ever before. Yet they still do not have the same opportunities as boys to complete and benefit from the education they choose.

Released on Day, a new analysis highlights a widening gender gap in mathematics. The brief, “Girls losing ground: The widening gender gap in mathematics,” published by IEA Education in partnership with UNESCO, shows that boys outperformed girls in mathematics at the end of primary school in 8 out of 10 education systems in 2023, compared to 4 out of 10 in 2015. Similar trends are also emerging in lower secondary education.

These differences are shaped by multiple factors, including persistent stereotypes, teacher expectations and classroom dynamics.

is calling for earlier and more targeted action, from strengthening girls’ confidence in mathematics at a young age to supporting gender-transformative teacher education and challenging stereotypes in and beyond the classroom.

Unesco Ghana in collaboration with Inclusive Tech Group and with support from Mastercard Foundation has handed over digital devices to 13 individuals, under the Program.

The participants, persons with disabilities, received laptops and tablets after successfully completing training in digital skills and entrepreneurship. Their stories reflect resilience, growth, and readiness to participate in the digital economy.

The event brought together key stakeholders, including representatives from the District Assembly, NCCE, Social Welfare, and the Federation of Disability Organizations, among others.

This initiative reinforces a shared commitment to ensuring that inclusion remains a right for all, with equal access to opportunities, skills, and tools needed to thrive.
