We received an image of a local lane in Knocknacarra recently after a period of anti-social behaviour beside Gaelscoil Mhic Amhlaigh, the lane had been subject to glass bottles smashed throughout the lane. The lane situated beside Gaelscoil Mhic Amhlaigh that connects Millers Lane pitches to the Gateway Retail Park is an area with a large amount of foot traffic, particularly children and pets.

Cumann Hurson-Quirke. Sinn Féin Galway City West deplores any anti-social behaviour in the Knocknacarra area.

Pictured is cumann member Adam voluntarily cleaning up the broken glass and the initial images we received of the lane.

On this day in 1981, Óglach Martin Hurson joined the Hunger Strike in the H-Blocks, in protest against the criminalisation of political prisoners by the British government.
Our Cumann is jointly named after Martin Hurson 🙏.
[Hurson-Quirke Cumann wish to apologise to the Hurson and Donnelly families for the error in posting yesterday. Martin in fact began his hunger strike at midnight on 29th May, 1981].

Easter 1976 marked the 60th anniversary of the 1916 Rising with the armed conflict ongoing in the Six Counties while in Dublin the Fine Gael/Labour Coalition government turned its back on both the North and on the heritage of Easter 1916 which it once claimed.
