The Consulate General of Israel to South India is deeply saddened by the passing of Mr. Yosef (Joey) Avraham, whose remarkable journey and years of dedicated service left a lasting impact on Israel’s economic and innovation engagement across the world.
His tenure in Bengaluru as Israel’s Economic Consul carried special meaning, bringing his journey full circle back to the country of his roots. His contribution to advancing India–Israel economic and innovation ties will always be remembered with deep respect and appreciation.
He immigrated to Israel from India at the age of 19, served as an officer in the IDF with the rank of major, and after studying engineering and business administration, he joined the Ministry of Economy’s attaché course in 1994. Since then, he has dedicated his professional life with endless dedication to the advancement of the Israeli economy, exports and industry.
Over the course of more than three decades of an extensive career, Joey has led, developed, and managed financial attachés in complex destinations around the world, including South Africa, Boston, Houston and Istanbul, as well as held senior management positions at the firm’s headquarters in Israel.
In August 2021, he came full circle when he embarked on his last mission as Israel’s economic consul in Bangalore, India.
We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, colleagues, and all those whose lives he touched.
May his memory be a blessing 🕯️
