PHYGITAL 2026 | India’s Next Growth Frontier – Physical AI & Smarter Infrastructure.

Mr. Vinodh Kumar and Mr. Karthik S from Guidance Tamil Nadu participated at PHYGITAL 2026, organised by Madras Chamber MCCI, contributing perspectives on the rapidly evolving convergence of AI, advanced technologies and physical infrastructure.

During the inaugural session, Mr. Vinodh highlighted Tamil Nadu’s efforts to bring together AI, academia and industry to accelerate AI adoption and build capabilities in the emerging field of Physical AI. In a separate address, Mr. Karthik spoke on the evolving applications of drones, counter-UAS, edge computing and real-time intelligence, highlighting the potential of autonomous integrated systems for surveillance and the development of a robust national drone ecosystem.

Together, the discussions reflected the opportunities emerging at the intersection of AI, autonomous technologies and physical infrastructure, with Tamil Nadu building a future-ready ecosystem for the next generation of technologies.

Capgemini expands its presence in Coimbatore

Coimbatore continues to attract leading technology companies, with Capgemini strengthening its presence in the city through a new facility at Electronics Corporation of Tamil Nadu Limited IT Park.

The new centre adds to Capgemini’s growing operations in Tamil Nadu and will support advanced capabilities across product engineering, robotics and power electronics, with space for more than 1,500 professionals.

With this expansion, Coimbatore’s emerging technology and engineering ecosystem continues to gain momentum, creating a strong base for high-value technology and innovation.

Tamil Nadu showcased its investment potential at the 13th World Tamils Economic Conference – 2026 Global Economic Summit in Mauritius, bringing the State’s opportunities closer to the global Tamil business community.

Representing Guidance Tamil Nadu, Mr. Godson George Micheal Rai and Mr. Vignesh P participated in the conference and interacted with business leaders and entrepreneurs from across the world.

As part of the session on “Investment / Business Opportunities in Tamil Nadu,” they highlighted the State’s strong investment ecosystem, enabling business environment, progressive policy reforms and opportunities across key sectors.

Starbucks Coffee Company exchanged an MoU with the Government of Tamil Nadu, in the presence of the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Thiru. C. Joseph Vijay, to establish its first technology hub in Chennai, expanding its global technology capabilities outside the USA.

This will be Starbucks’ first corporate technology hub in India and is expected to create approximately 800 technology roles, with hiring phased in line with business needs. It will support Starbucks’ global operations, working closely with the company’s technology and business teams in the U.S. and other markets.

Starbucks, the world’s largest coffeehouse chain, comes to Chennai for its deep technology talent, strong engineering ecosystem and leading academic institutions, marking a key development in the State’s Global Capabilities Centre ecosystem.

Tamil Nadu strengthens its GCC momentum. 🌍

As part of the Hon’ble Chief Minister Thiru. C. Joseph Vijay’s UK visit: two MoUs were exchanged to further expand Tamil Nadu’s Global Capability Centre (GCC) ecosystem.

Guidance Tamil Nadu has signed an MoU with EY to facilitate the establishment of a Global Capability Centre (GCC) in Tamil Nadu for a leading UK-headquartered company. The GCC is expected to create over 2,000 new jobs, focusing significantly on finance and human resource support functions. The Centre will be set up in the recently announced GCC corridor of Mount Poonammallee Road (MPR), further reinstating the client's preference and confidence in the micro-market.

In a separate major announcement, Sweden-based Sigma Technology Group India, through Zriya Solutions, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government of Tamil Nadu to establish a Global Capability Centre, strengthening its ability to deliver scalable engineering services to customers worldwide and creating 600 high-value jobs.

Walgreens Adds Another Chapter to Tamil Nadu’s GCC Story.

Walgreens, a leading global healthcare and pharmacy company, exchanged an MoU with the Government of Tamil Nadu, in the presence of the Hon’ble Chief Minister, Thiru C. Joseph Vijay, to establish its first-ever Global Capability Centre (GCC) in Tamil Nadu.

The US-headquartered company will establish its GCC at DLF Downtown, Tharamani, in Chennai’s GCC corridor. The new centre is expected to create more than 250 jobs in its first year, with additional expansion planned over the next several years. It will support technology and enterprise business services previously provided through outsourced arrangements in India and will complement Walgreens’ existing U.S. operations.

Walgreens’ first GCC in the country adds to Tamil Nadu’s growing GCC ecosystem and is a significant milestone as the State continues to attract global companies building technology and business service capabilities.
