The HighCAP project aims to strengthen the climate resilience of India's National Highways through evidence-based policy development and technical guidance. NIDM is implementing the project in consortium mode with IIT Delhi, IIT Mandi, and Delhi Technological University ( ).

The workshop brought together consortium partners, domain experts, reviewers, and representatives from to deliberate on the Consolidated Multi-Hazard Modelling ( ) Reports, a key component of the project's deliverables.

On 03 June 2026, the National Institute of Disaster Management ( ) had the privilege of welcoming a distinguished delegation of 40 Civil Servants from Sri Lanka facilitated by NCGG (National Centre for Good Governance, Government of India) for an exposure visit and enriching engagement focused on disaster risk management, governance, and institutional capacity building and role of NIDM.

He shared insights on the growing role of emerging technologies in Disaster Risk Management. He also presented case studies to demonstrate the applications of geospatial technologies for addressing critical problems of land degradation and landcover classification.

โ–ถ ๐——๐—ฟ. ๐—š๐—ฎ๐—ด๐—ฎ๐—ป๐—ฑ๐—ฒ๐—ฒ๐—ฝ ๐—ฆ๐—ถ๐—ป๐—ด๐—ต delivered a comprehensive presentation on Indiaโ€™s Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) and mitigation initiatives. He provided an overview of Indiaโ€™s hazard landscape and presented a comparative analysis of the hazard profiles of India and Sri Lanka. The session highlighted Indiaโ€™s strategic approach towards disaster preparedness and mitigation, showcasing various national-level programmes and schemes aimed at reducing disaster risks associated with landslides, floods, urban floods, GLOFs and forest fires.

โ–ถ The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by a representative of the Sri Lankan delegation. She acknowledged Indiaโ€™s significant contribution to strengthening global disaster resilience. She also commended the NIDMโ€™s efforts in capacity building and disaster risk reduction.

The National Institute of Disaster Management (NIDM), Southern Campus, Vijayawada, in collaboration with the India Meteorological Department (IMD), successfully organized the Stakeholder's Meet on Southwest Monsoon 2026 Outlook โ€“ Preparedness & Multi-Hazard Weather Warning Services on 02nd June 2026.
