US officials reportedly met Houthis in Oman over the weekend.

American officials met representatives of Yemen’s Houthis in Oman last weekend, ⁠unnamed sources told Reuters news agency.

The meeting – which hasn’t been made public – was held at the US embassy in Muscat, three sources said on ⁠condition of anonymity. Two sources said Oman’s government, a longtime regional mediator, helped organise the face-to-face gathering.

A 28-year-old pregnant woman died in Firozabad, Uttar Pradesh, after her family alleged that a police officer kicked her abdomen while officers were attempting to arrest her husband in a theft case. According to the family, Sub-Inspector Dharmpal Singh arrived at Gaurav’s home in Labhaua village with a police team around 11.45 pm on Sunday to arrest him in connection with a theft case.

The family alleged that when Gaurav’s pregnant wife Anjali pleaded with the police not to take her husband away, Singh kicked her in the abdomen, causing her to fall.
